" Running away is easy.
What's difficult is staying. "

Diana Westbrook, a lost and damaged 17-year-old girl, runs away from her home in New York after a bank robbery gone wrong. She nearly escapes the police chase by making a spontaneous decision to jump onto a moving freight train. Diana travels as far away as possible, hoping to leave behind her dark and troubled past. She ends up in a small, rundown town in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Diana finds an open room at Buck's, where she meets the infamous Dallas Winston, and eventually, the rest of the gang. Unlike other people Diana has met, the gang finds a way into her closed-off heart, and surprisingly, gives her a reason to stay in Tulsa. Unfortunately, Diana soon witnesses the effects of social classes in Tulsa as the Greasers and Socs are in an ongoing feud with each other. Her newfound love for the gang turns into a tragic ending, especially for the man she, unexpectedly, falls for.
