Jack Frost nipped at the tips of my ears and nose. My gloved fingers were stiff from numbness as I clenched and unclenched my fists. Shivers took over my entire body every time the bitter air blew sharp winds. My legs pushed off on the ice beneath me, and unlike the rest of the gang I had perfect balance on the slippery ground. I learned how to ice skate when I lived in New York. It was something that automatically came naturally to me.
Today began as a regular winter day: cold, boring, and slow. Until, Two-Bit burst through the front door of the Curtis house and explained how he had stumbled upon a large lake that was completely frozen over. It seemed a little sketchy at first because the lake was located around a pretty big patch of trees, which made us question how he had found it in the first place, but it was Two we were talking about. He either got chased by some cops after attempting to steal, or was looking for of those white rabbits to follow back to their den's. After watching Alice In Wonderland, he became obsessed and fascinated with the idea of 'going on a high trip like that blonde chic.' His words, not mine. At least the new movie stopped him from talking about Mickey Mouse all the damn time. He still wore that sleeveless shirt though.
As I skated around the circular lake — with ice skates we managed to steal from the local rink — I lapped everyone with ease and grace. My eyes glanced over to Dallas, who stood on the snow beside the lake, smoking a cigarette and refusing to skate with the rest of us. With a huff, I glided towards the edge where he was standing and stopped before him. "That's your fifth cigarette," I noted, while taking the stick out of his fingers. I took a drag of it and then dropping it onto the snow, not bothering to crush it with my foot.
Dallas rolled his eyes and stuffed his hands into the pockets of his leather jacket. "Skatings not my thing," he said with a small shrug.
I breathed a laugh and shook my head at him. "Well, can it be your thing just for a little bit?" I asked, a small smile adorned on my lips. Dallas watched me with hidden amusement as I pouted and stood up on my tippy toes, so I could wrap my arms around his neck. "For me?" I pleaded.
"Fine," he gave in. "But only for you." I blushed and sent him a cheeky smile. My arms unraveled from his neck and intertwined with one of his hands instead as I pulled him onto the ice.
We skated side by side together with smiles on our faces, just enjoying each other's company. I couldn't believe how much my life had changed over the last couple of months. I met a whole gang of friends, who are basically family to me. I even fell for this amazing man. Sure, we weren't exactly dating or together, but I knew what we had was real. I know change is inevitable but I wish I could just freeze this moment and live forever young.
"Hey guys!" Two-Bit exclaimed loudly. He stood in the middle of the lake, waving his hands in the air goofily. We all shrugged and skated towards him with curious smiles. "Wanna see a cool trick?" Two-Bit asked excitedly. He wore a large grin on his face, which only meant that he was about to do something incredibly stupid.

Fanfiction"No offense, Dallas, but I'm not into moody assholes," I fired at him with a smug smirk. "Yeah, you're not my type either, Diana," he shot back. "Crazy, uptight chics are kind of a turnoff." I narrowed my eyes at him and growled angrily. ...
