Jace pulls his car up to the curb. "I had fun." He says.

"Me too, thank you for the ice cream."

"Of course, but I would really love to buy you dinner instead."

I can't help but smile. "I'd love that."

"Also, we have a few more places I need to take you."

"I'm looking forward to it." I swing my legs out of the jeep and start towards the house.

"Gracie!" He yells, making me turn around. My mind goes back to the night after our family dinner when he asked me out.

"Why can't you ever just let me walk away?" I chuckle.

"What would be the fun in that?"

I don't have a response to that, so all I do is smile.

"I just wanted to say, bye."

I laugh. "Thats it? Thats what you wanted to say?"

"Well you didn't say it, figured I would."

I turn towards the house, once more. "Bye, Jace!"

Before I even make it to the door, my mom is already running to her car. "Hey baby, I left some money on the counter for food. I'm late for work, but I'll see you later!" She gives me a quick kiss on the cheek and gets inside the car.

"Okay then." I whisper to myself.

The house is cold, giving me goosebumps. Shawn must be near me. I look around seeing Sam is no where to be found. "Okay Ghost Boy, you can come out, I know you're here." I wait a second but he doesn't appear. "Fine, or don't, I guess."

I put my bag in my room and go to check on Sammy. I knock on the door.

"Come in." I hear him say. I open the door and see Sam laying in his unmade bed.

"Hey, I just wanted to say I'm home and mom left us money for a pizza or we can get postmates or something."

"Can we get Wendy's?"

"Yeah sure, you want nuggets and fries?"

"Of course."

"Okay, I'll order it." I close the door and go back to my room.

I sit on my window seat and order our food, while listening to Julia Michaels. It will be another thirty minutes before our food arrives so I start to read Harry Potter, in hopes Shawn will come out. Sometimes I read it to him when we get bored. A few days ago he told me he liked the sound of my voice. It gave me a funny feeling in my chest, no one has ever complimented my voice before.

Forty minutes later,  the door bell rings. I put down my book and run downstairs. I tell the delivery man thank you and yell for Sam.

I set the food on the kitchen island. "Do you want to eat down here?" I ask him as he enters.

"No, I'm going to watch the new David Dobrik Vlog in my room." He puts his food on a plate and leaves.

I grab a can of lemonade and some ketchup from the fridge. When I close it, Shawn is leaning against the freezer door. It makes me jump. I lean on the other side of the fridge, putting my hand on my chest.

"Hey." He says in a monotone voice.

"One, stop scaring me. Two, where have you been, you dick?"

"One, language. Two,  I just wanted to watch more of The Vampire Diaries and I can't turn it on myself."

"So, you've been gone for a day and a half, then you decide to come back after I've been asking you to, just so I can turn on the Vampire Diaries for you."

He makes a quick thinking face. "Yes."

"You know I was kind of worried about you and you come back and act like you didn't ignore me for a whole day." I grab my plate and go up to my room. When I get there Shawn is sitting on my desk chair. I set my plate on my bed and look at Shawn, trying to figure him out. "Are you jealous I've been spending time with Jace?" His eyes widen.

He looks up at me not sure what to say. "Oh my gosh, you are jealous."

"No I'm not I just--"

"Shawn you are."

"Listen, there's nothing for me to do and I wish I could go on dates and live. I'm jealous that you get to do that and I know my solution wasn't the best but I'm sorry, okay? I shouldn't have ignored you it was just my way of coping."

"You could have just talked to me about it." I reach out and put my hand on his shoulder to comfort him.

"I really am sorry." He glances down at my hand and does a double take. "Oh my god!"

"I'm touching you." I smile. He takes my other hand and places it on his chest. We don't say anything, just look at our hands. We put them together and his hands were a lot bigger than mine. They feel soft and strong at the same time. I start playing with his fingers while he stares down at me with a smile.

"I can't believe this." He chuckles. I reach my hand to his cheek and look into his beautiful golden eyes. His face is even softer. "How am I doing this?" He asks.

"Maybe, it's tied to your emotions, when I first touched you, you were sad and just now you were in a sad too." I put my hand down and he moves his hand on my shoulder.

"So you're telling me I have to be sad to touch you? I-I mean not you specifically, t-touching things in general."

"Well, if you can learn to manipulate your emotions you will probably be able to control it without feeling sad."

"Well, how do I do that?"

"I'm not sure, but we'll figure it out."

Then I didn't feel his hand on my shoulder anymore. I looked at it and it was still there. Shawn lowers it a bit and his hand goes in my shoulder. He quickly removes it not wanting me to freak out and looks at the ground. I'm not freaked out, Shawn doesn't scare me anymore, well only when he purposely does it. "What now?" He asks.

"I need to eat and I guess." Shawn looks up. "We can watch The Vampire Diaries." He smiles and appears on the other side of my bed. I resume where Shawn was in the show and take a bite of my burger.
