Three nights have passed since I've seen the 'ghost'. I've come to the conclusion I think he was a ghost, I mean it makes sense. The cold spots and the flickering lights. Plus you can't forget the disappearing into thin air. I watched Supernatural, I know how this works. Well, mostly.
I've probably slept 7 hours in the past 3 days. Everything I do, I just wonder if he's watching me. After some long consideration, I've come to the conclusion that he won't hurt me. He didn't seem threatening, its just the thought of ghosts being real is insane.
Now I wish I asked more questions, how did you die? When did you die? Whats your name? Do you need help passing on?
That's what is going through my mind while I should be reading Oedipus Rex. I can't believe I have summer homework. At my old school that was unheard of. It's not too bad though, thankfully the internet exits, along with online summaries.
The doorbell rings, snapping me out of my thoughts. It must be my mom and brother with the take out. Which is good because I'm craving egg rolls. I run downstairs and peak out of the door hole, seeing a boy about my age and a younger girl.
I slowly open the door. "Hello." I say, but it sounds more like a question.
"Hi, our mom wanted us to bring this by as a sort of, welcome to the neighborhood gift, or something." The boy says and hands me a warm plate of chocolate chip cookies wrapped in saran wrap.
Before I can say anything the younger girl starts, "I'm Sophie, Sophie Norman." She was about the same age as Sam, with blonde hair in a side braid and is wearing black leggings and a T-shirt. "And this is my brother, Jace." He smirks as she says his name. Jace has blond hair to that's sort of buzzed on the sides and long in the middle. He's wearing black Adidas joggers and a hoodie, with a jean jacket.
I immediately feel self conscious about my sweatpants and baggy Tee. "Thank you. I'm Gracie, It's nice to meet you both."
"Are you going to go to Marshfield High school?" Jace asks, leaning on the doorframe.
"Yeah, actually I was just doing the summer homework now." I paused. "How did you know?"
"Its the only High School in Coos Bay." He points out. "What year are you going into?"
"Junior."
His smile instantly grows wider. "Me too. How are you liking Oedipus? I'm having a hard time getting through it."
"I think that's a universal problem when it comes to Oedipus Rex." Shrug..
He clears his throat. "Well um, If you ever need a ride to school or something." He awkwardly points at his house right across from ours. "I can give you my number, if you want."
"Of course, yeah, it would be nice to know someone there." I pull out my phone and hand it to him.
I can start to sense the awkwardness in the air waiting for him to put his number in. Thankfully, Sophie broke the silence "So yeah, If you need anything we're right across the street."
Jace hands me back my phone and smiles. "Okay, we should get back now."
"Okay, yeah, thanks for the cookies and it was nice meeting you both." I smile and start to close the door as I hear a 'no problem' from Jace.
I walk to the kitchen to put the cookies on the island, when I feel a familiar cold chill. I smile, "Okay, Ghost Boy back up, you're freezing."
