"Who's that?" Sammy asks. I didn't realize how tired and peaceful I was until I moved off of Shawn's chest.
I stand up and don't know what to say. "Um." I look back at Shawn who is standing up. I am shocked I was not expecting him to come in here. Usually, my family leaves me alone.
"I'm Shawn." Sam walks over to us and shakes Shawn's hand.
"Your hands are so cold," Sammy says looking at Shawn's hand.
"Yeah, I get that a lot." He chuckles.
"Why are you at our house at midnight, Shawn?" He says with attitude.
"We were just-" I start but Sammy cuts me off.
"Don't you have a boyfriend?" He asks me.
"Yes, but Shawn was just here to talk, and we're just friends," I say awkwardly putting one of my hands on Shawn's shoulder.
"Yeah," Shawn whispers under his breath.
"How do you know my sister?" Sam asks Shawn. The room was so tense. I could physically feel the awkwardness in the air.
"Um, well." Shawn let's put a long breath. "Jace!" He says making hand gestures, "I'm a friend of Jace's." Shawn nods. It was completely cringy.
"Okay." Sam looks confused and I don't think he believed any of this.
It was silent and weird. We all just stared at each other for a second. "Did you need something Sammy?" I ask him.
Sammy looks up at me. "No, it's fine, just forget it." As Sam turns around he doesn't take his eyes off Shawn. Even when he was walking away he still kept looking back at him.
"Goodnight," I say before Sam shuts the door to my room.
///SAM'S POV///
I shut the door and walk back to my room. All I wanted was to know what to say to a text Sophie sent me. I thought since Gracie is a girl she would know what to say. But I'm not going ask her in front of some random guy.
Shawn was weird. This is going to sound odd but his presence just felt familiar and him in general.
I sit at my desk chair and go to YouTube, still thinking about the boy in my sister's room. I swear he was familiar in some way. He even looked familiar.
I click play on the video but don't pay attention to it.
Then I remember. "Oh. My. God." My jaw drops thinking this is impossible.
He looked familiar because I've seen him. Sophie was telling me the other day about the kid who lived here when I told her Brian was coming over. She showed me a picture of him, and that's the boy in my sister's room, RIGHT NOW!
I sit up straight in my chair with wide eyes.
He must be a ghost, the signs are all there. With all of that stupid shit my sister watches, I've caught up on a few things. The cold spots, the creepy noises, my sister talks to herself (she thinks we can't hear but we aren't fucking deaf,) his name is Shawn, he looks like the boy in the picture, it all makes sense.
Wait holy shit, my sister is friends with a fucking ghost!
///GRACIE'S POV///
"Goodnight," I say before Sam shuts the door to my room.
I turn around to Shawn. My eyes probably look like they are about to pop out of my head. "Did that really just happen?" I ask pointing my thumb to the door behind me.
Shawn was frozen. "Yup." He says looking at the door.
I chuckle. "And did we really just get away with that?"
"I think so," Shawn says confused.
"Well okay then." I climb on my bed and start to untuck the covers. Why would I get on here first and then untuck them? God, I'm such a stupid bitch. But also a tired and lazy bitch. I crawl over the covers so I'm not over them and start to get comfortable. "I'm so tired," I say quietly.
Shawn gets in bed too and lays down. I turn my body on my left side and put my left arm under my pillow. I was so tired I was already kind of out of it. "Gracie?" Shawn asks looking at the ceiling.
"Yeah?" I ask yawning and closing my eyes.
"Is Jace really your boyfriend now?"
"Yes," I say and letting sleep take over my body.
