"It was like I was cloud 9 Bayli. Never have I had a kiss like that before." I said tossing a piece of popcorn into my mouth.
"I heard he kisses like a pro. Why are you the lucky one that gets to kiss him?" Bayli whines.
"Suck it up princess," I throw a handful of popcorn at her and she scrunches her nose when I do.
Bayli, aside from Luke, is one of my closest friends that have been there for me forever. Her and Luke didn't talk much, but time to time we'd all hang out. She had brown hair and brown eyes just like mine, but she was way shorter than me. I had always teased her about it and she hated it, though some of the guys I know adore her height. We told each other practically everything, especially when it came to guys. So for the past hour, she's been throwing questions at me non-stop.
"Are his hands big? What do his eyes look like up close? Does he have a cute best friend possibly?" She fires.
"Bayli calm down, I've only been on one date with him," I laugh.
"I know, but still, he's on the football team so he has to have some good lookin' teammates right?" She wriggles her eyebrows.
I roll my eyes at her and grab the packet of skittles and grab my favorite, the green one and plop it in my mouth. This is how our usual sleepovers are. Girling out on junk food and having a Netflix marathon of sappy romance movies. Luke's and mine were different, but similar in a way. When Luke was gone, or Bayli and I needed to talk about boys, she was always there. Whenever I tried talking about boys with Luke, he'd make a face and say 'We cares about other boys when there's me?' And then he'd flex... Yes, he's my best friend, but he's also a cocky asshat 95% of the time.
Out of nowhere, Bayli started to laugh.
"What's so funny?" I asked with one eyebrow raised?
"I can just picture what Luke is gonna be like when you tell him about kissing Matthew," she smirks.
"Luke doesn't even know Matthew," I put extra emphasis on the word 'know', "at least that's what he told me."
Bayli rolled her eyes, "Oh little Kai, so gullible. They're on the same football team, of course they know each other... Well not in a very good way to be exact."
My face twisted into a frown, "what do you mean 'not in a very good way'?"
She stole the skittle bag and shoved a few in her mouth, "Well, on the last day of last year they got into a huge fight. Some say over a girl, others say it was because of a prank in the locker room on one of them and someone had said it was either Luke or Matthew, and others say it was their ego. How did you not know about this?? Did Luke not tell you about it?"
"I wasn't here on the last day, remember? I was leaving early for Hawaii... I think I remember asking Luke where he got his black eye from when I got back... But I don't think he told me it was because of a fight," I say shrugging. I guess if you miss something and you're not back in time for where gossip lives... You just miss out on the whole thing.
"Hmm, well, at least you know now right?"
"Right..."
There was a pause of silence (minus Zac Efron's voice coming from the TV) before Bayli spoke up, "so, what did you guys do after your kiss?" She lifted her eyebrows a few times which made me roll my eyes and shake my head.
"We played around on the beach a little more until the stars came out, then he took me to a little diner and then took me home. He was so sweet the entire time." I smiled as I spoke and looked down at my fuzzy slippers.
Bayli 'awww'ed and I threw a pillow at her. For the rest of the night we watched all the romance movies we could find and finished around 3 bags of skittles and our popcorn along with blaring 1 Direction and singing at the top of our lungs while "dancing" or as I like to call it, embarrassing ourselves and looking like our feet are on fire. I love our girl nights, but the whole time, one of the only things on my mind was that Luke and Matthew had a fight and that Luke didn't tell me about it. 'He tells me everything though? Well, I tell him everything... I'm not sure about him anymore because why wouldn't he tell me something this serious?'
I eventually shook the thought, but I still wanted to know so badly.
