Kaelani•

The one that she was kissing, was my boyfriend.

I could actually hear my heart break and the tears sprang from my eyes.

Matthew looked at me and pushed her off of him. I quickly turned and walked away as I heard footsteps coming from behind me. "Kaelani! Wait!" I hear Matthew call.

"Leave me alone," I bite back.

"Kai, look-"

"No. You look. It's over. Just leave me alone. Okay?" I say with tears still falling. I don't even look at him. I just walk at a fast pace back up the steps and inside and try to find my way to the front door. I only hear Taylor telling him to walk the other way as Matthew protested.

I wanted to go back and tell Taylor thank you, but my feet just wanted to leave and I couldn't even stand to look at Matthew.

As soon as I found the front door and take one step outside on the front porch, I am grabbed again and pulled to the side.

I am sick of getting yanked around tonight... My feelings are as well, actually.

"What do you want?" I snap.

I look and see a shocked Luke staring at me, "woah, calm down there tig- are you alright?" He sounds worried as he examines my face.

More tears flowed from my eyes and Luke pulled me into a tight hug. I just continued to cry into his arms. Then he scooped me up and carried me to the truck.

He unlocked and opened the passenger door and gently placed me in the seat. He closed the door and jogged to the driver's side and hopped in. He took his angel wings off as he closed his door. He turned to look at me and I bet I looked like a mess. His eyes were full of worry and concern. "Who did this to you Kai?"

I shook my head, but he was persistent to get the answer.

"Matthew," was all I had to say to make his knuckles turn white and his face drop in anger.

"What did that little prick do?" There was only sharp venom in his voice.

"I- I saw h-him a- and Makayla D- Dill-" I stuttered in-between sobs.

"I'm gonna kill him" he says harshly through gritted teeth as he tries to open the car door.

"Luke!" I yell as I pull on his arm. He whips his head around to look at me again. "Don't," I speak softly as I feel his tense muscles.

His features relax under my touch and he sighs as he sits back in his seat. "I just hate seeing you so hurt Kai..." He grabbed my hand and traced circles with his thumb over the back of it.

I just nod my head as silent tears escape from my eyes and land on our intertwined hands in my lap. He reached over and wiped away my tears. "Let's get out of here," Luke says as he let go of my hand and started the engine of the car.

I buckled my seatbelt and leaned back in my seat. I kept looking over at his hands on the steering wheel. I didn't want him to let go of my hand, which felt quite cold without his. The drive home took as long as it took to get to the party, but felt shorter.

We pulled up to Luke's driveway and we both walked up to his front door after locking the truck. We walked inside and after we took our shoes off, I noticed no one was home.

"Where is everyone?" I asked.

Luke replied as we jogged up the stairs, "both my brothers are at parties, dad just works the night shift tonight, and mom had an emergency at work, she left right when we did actually."
