Sophie laid on her bed, looking up at her decorative lights around her ceiling as her best friend Liam went through her closet. "What is this for again?" he asked. "A date?"

Sophie laughed and sat up. "Not a date. I have a family party to go to tonight but I'm not gonna have a lot of time to change after work so I need something cute but also simple enough to change into in my car."

"How long are these people making you work for?" Liam asked.

"Their house is huge, so it's gonna take me a few hours to clean. But they're rich as hell so I'm making big bucks."

Liam rolled his eyes. "Your obsession with cleaning is weird."

"I don't have an obsession," Sophie replied, walking over to the closet. "I'm just good at it and if I can get paid good money for something I'm good at then why not? Plus I think their son is cute. I saw pictures of him around the house at my interview."

"Ooo see if he's gay," Liam told her. Sophie rolled her eyes with a chuckle and smacked his arm.

"Come on, help me. I need to find an okay outfit or my mom is gonna murder me. I'd like to live another day," she pleaded. Liam sighed with a nod.

"Fine, I'll put my fashion skills to the test with your hideous wardrobe. Go get ready for your new job." He looked at her with a wink and she giggled before heading to the bathroom to wash her face and change into something to clean in.

When she walked back into her room, there was a pink skirt and a black tank top spread out on her bed for her, with black combat boots on the floor next to the bed.

"Liam you're a genius," Sophie said with a smile, hugging him as he sat on his phone. He shrugged and flipped his imaginary hair with a nod.

"Yeah it's whatever," he responded. Sophie smirked and grabbed the clothes, putting them into a bag before pulling her hair into a ponytail.

"Okay, I guess it's time for my new job," she said. Liam raised his eyebrows mockingly with a smirk.

"Good luck," he said. "I think I'm gonna take a nap on your bed. I'm not ready to go home yet."

Sophie nodded. "Do what you want. If you're still here after I get off of work maybe you can come to the family party with me." Liam nodded and Sophie leaned down to kiss his cheek. "Love you," she said.

"Love you back," Liam answered.

Sophie arrived at the house, taking note of the lack of cars in the driveway. She walked around the back and looked for the spare key in the place they had told her about, unlocking the back door.

She started cleaning the upstairs first, deciding to work her way downstairs. She began in the bedrooms, working fairly quickly, since the bedrooms were surprisingly tidy. She made her way into the bathroom and scrubbed everything from head to toe, making sure she scraped all of the mold out of the shower. She cleaned the fluids off of the toilet and then wiped down the sink before mopping to finish it off.

Removing the mask from her face, Sophie took a deep breath as she stepped out of the bathroom, carrying her cleaning supplies downstairs. She mopped the stairs as she went down each one, making sure she collected all of the dirt that was on each step.

She was in the process of cleaning the dining room, spraying down the table with vinegar when she looked up to see someone watching her. Her silent hums came to a halt as she jumped with a squeal at the sight of the boy standing in front of her.

With a smirk, he put the bag he was holding on one of the chairs and said, "You must be the new maid."

Sophie nodded, looking up at him while she swallowed hard. He was much cuter than she had gathered from the pictures. He had gorgeous black hair that was parted perfectly and was clearly soft and fluffy. He wore circular glasses that made him look adorable and that rested elegantly on his sharp cheekbones. His eyelashes made his eyes even more gorgeous than they already were and his smile made her heart skip a beat.

"I'm Kevin," he introduced himself. "And you are?"

"Sophie," she answered quickly. She had resumed her cleaning, not wanting to waste any time.

"You're a little young to be a maid, aren't you?" he asked. Sophie shrugged.

"Do you usually have older maids?"

Kevin shrugged in return. "I guess so. I've never really thought about it. You're just younger than the other ones we've had. It's cool though, it gives me someone to talk to."

Sophie raised her eyebrows, finishing with wiping down the table. "You don't have friends to talk to?" she asked.

Kevin looked at her with another smirk on his face, making her chest tighten. "Yeah I've got friends, but none of them look like you."

Sophie stopped to look at him for a second, the two of them staring at each other. She just furrowed her eyebrows at him and shook her head before walking past him to the kitchen. She began cleaning the dishes, Kevin standing behind her as he grabbed a snack and took a seat on the counter.

"You live around here?" he asked. Sophie scrubbed the dishes, trying to find a way out of this conversation.

"Yeah," she answered.

"That's cool," Kevin stated. "Where?"

"On a street."

"Which street?"

"The one with houses on it."

"That's very specific."

"You didn't ask for specification."

Kevin chuckled with a nod as Sophie finished the dishes. "That's fair," he said. "I guess I'll just have to wait until we're best friends to find out where you live."

Sophie turned around, drying her hands with a nearby towel. "Mhm," she hummed at him. "And since we're not best friends now I just need you to get your ass off the counter so I can finish doing my job."
