"No, they're not mad at you. I didn't tell them all the details just that there was a little argument. They didn't seem concerned at all when I told them I was going to talk to you," Sophie explained to Kevin, who was clutching her hand like a shy child.
"I'm nervous," he admitted. Sophie smiled and shook her head with a chuckle.
"You shouldn't be. My family loves you. And they know I'm not stupid and I wouldn't forgive you without good reason."
Kevin nodded. "Okay I believe you. But I still wasn't invited to your barbecue."
Sophie shrugged. "You are now."
She opened the front door and led Kevin inside, where the two of them walked to the kitchen together. Sophie's parents were in the same place they had been when she had left, considering that she wasn't gone for nearly as long as she'd thought.
"We're back," Sophie called out. Her parents looked up as they approached, slightly surprised to see Kevin.
"Kevin, welcome back," Sophie's father greeted him. "I assume that means you guys are alright then?"
"Perfect," Kevin answered. Sophie looked over at her mother, who was standing up from her chair, ready to prepare for the barbecue.
"Ready to get this show on the road?" she asked.
Sophie nodded and put a hand on Kevin's back, leading him to the back door and out into the backyard where all of the decorations were waiting to be set up
They spent the next hour or so setting up for the barbecue, and then Sophie and Kevin left Sophie's parents to get the food together.
Sophie took Kevin inside while her parents were outside by the grill. She led him up the stairs to her room, where Kevin's heart started to beat a little faster.
They rounded the corner at the top of the stairs, and Kevin stared into Sophie's room in awe. Sophie plugged her phone into the charger next to her bed, turning to look at Kevin, who was still standing in the doorway.
"Come in, shut the door," she told him. He swallowed hard, stepping into the carpeted room and looking around at the baby blue walls.
"I've never been up here," Kevin gawked. Sophie chuckled and approached him, putting her arms around his neck. His attention dropped down to her, his hands rising to her waist.
"It's nothing special," Sophie said, turning her head to look around the room. Kevin, whose eyes hadn't left Sophie's face, tilted her chin so she was facing him before leaning down to kiss her.
She was slightly taken aback, but eased into the kiss in no time, her hands held against the back of his neck. Kevin was the first to pull away, looking down at Sophie with a smile.
"It's like you," he told her, gesturing to her room. "Plain."
Sophie gasped and pulled away from him, smacking his arm while he laughed. "Douchebag," she muttered.
"I'm just kidding!" he laughed. Sophie rolled her eyes and sat on the bed, looking up at Kevin. He stared back down at her, admiring her features as a small smile appeared on his face.
"God you're so beautiful," he muttered. Sophie took a deep breath as he seated himself next to her, the two of them facing each other. Kevin placed his hands on either side of Sophie's face before pulling her towards him to place a kiss on her forehead.
"I'm sorry I doubted you," Sophie spoke with a frown. "I guess it's all just super new and I'm still trying to protect my heart."
"You don't have to apologize, Soph. I get it. After the shit I pulled with Lindsay you had a right to protect yourself. But I promise you I'm not gonna hurt you. Not now, not ever."
Sophie nodded. The two of them looked at each other for a few seconds before Sophie looked at her lap with a chuckle. "You wanna hear a secret?" she asked. Kevin nodded as Sophie looked back up. "You're my first boyfriend. Ever."
Kevin's jaw dropped, and he stared at Sophie in shock. "Are you serious?" Sophie nodded. "How?"
"What do you mean how?" she laughed.
"I mean..." Kevin ran his fingers through his hair, processing the information. "You look in the mirror every day, you know what you look like."
Sophie furrowed her eyebrows. "Mhm, that's a great observation, Kev."
Kevin laughed, rolling his eyes. "You know what I meant."
Sophie's face scrunched, showing her confusion. She let out a laugh. "No, actually, I don't."
Kevin sighed. "I just mean you're so beautiful. And you're one of the funniest and most kind hearted people I've ever met in my life. How are guys not constantly throwing themselves at you?"
Sophie shrugged. "I was always seen as unapproachable."
"I can see that," Kevin replied. Sophie's jaw dropped and she smacked Kevin's chest, getting a laugh out of him.
Sophie rolled her eyes and shrugged. "It's fine though, I'm just new at this so everything's making me kinda nervous."
Kevin nodded and reached his hand over to Sophie, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear. He looked at Sophie with a sigh before dropping his hand and looking at his lap. "You didn't seem nervous when you were FLIRTING WITH YOUNGHOON."
He brought his head up as he said the last three words, putting his face against Sophie's, their noses touching. Sophie laughed and shoved his shoulders, pushing him down on the bed. She scooched over to where he was now lying on the end of the bed, looking down at him.
"You're such a douche," she said, scrunching her nose at him. Kevin smiled and took her hand, pulling her down to his level to kiss her. Sophie smiled against his lips right before he sat up abruptly, pushing her off of him slightly.
He grabbed her face, holding her forehead against his. Sophie laughed as Kevin squished her face, looking deep into her eyes. Suddenly, he broke out into song, singing, "Youuuuu are sooooo beautifulllll to meeeeeee."
Sophie furrowed her eyebrows at him, pulling her face away from his. "Yo, are you serious right now?" she asked.
Kevin looked at her with a confused expression. "Serious about what?"
"You can sing??"
