Sophie woke up the next morning and didn't do much to her look when she was done showering, just threw on a pair of jeans and a t shirt. She brushed her hair to let it air dry and walked downstairs, scrolling through Instagram.

"Morning," her mom greeted her from by the stove, cooking some breakfast. "You're up early," she observed.

"Babysitting today," Sophie answered. "And I have to pick someone up before that to go with me."

"Who?"

"My friend Kevin," she replied. As soon as she said it, she looked up at her mom, remembering the family party with Aunt Libby.

"Boyfriend, Kevin?" her mom asked almost immediately. Sophie swallowed, prepared to tell her mom the truth, but when she saw the excited expression on her face, she nodded with a grimace.

"Yeah, boyfriend Kevin."

Her mom squealed, something Sophie didn't even know was possible. "That's so exciting! How's it going between you two?"

"Fine," Sophie answered. "He's really sweet."

"Any pictures?" her mom asked. Sophie shook her head.

"We don't really take pictures together."

Her mom pouted and Sophie grabbed a piece of bacon from the plate next to the stove before smiling at her mom. "I'm leaving now," she said. "I'll see you later."

"Take some pictures!" her mom shouted. Sophie rolled her eyes and walked out of the house. She drove to the Moon household and waited outside, sending Kevin a text that she was there.

He walked outside, another person trailing behind him. She was just as gorgeous as him, and with every step her hair seemed to bounce in a perfect way. Sophie couldn't help but stare at her as the two approached the car.

Kevin opened the passenger side door and stepped in, opening the window once he shut the door. The girl leaned down to look in the window, smiling at Sophie.

"Hi, I'm Stella," she introduced herself. "I'm Kevin's sister. You're the one who cleans our house, right?" Finding herself intimidated by Stella's gorgeous looks, Sophie nodded, her mouth open. "Where did you put the AirPods that were on my bed?" she asked.

"Huh? Oh they're in the pink drawer in that white shelf you have," Sophie replied. Stella smiled widely.

"Cool! Thanks! Have fun babysitting!" she waved and then spun around, strolling back to the house. Sophie leaned down to see her through the window, still staring with her mouth open.

"Are you gay?" Kevin asked abruptly. Sophie's head shot in his direction, her eyes wide.

"What?" she demanded. He chuckled awkwardly.

"I mean...with the way you were just looking at my sister..."

"I'm not gay," Sophie said. "Gay people are cool or whatever but I'm not gay."

Kevin couldn't help but laugh. "Gay people are cool or whatever," he mocked her, giggling some more once he said it out loud.

"Shut up," Sophie scolded him. Kevin smirked and looked out the window, listening to the music playing quietly in the background. "Are you hungry?" Sophie asked after a few minutes of driving.

Kevin, who hadn't been thinking about food, felt his stomach grumble when Sophie asked him that question. He nodded. "I have a credit card with me," he stated.

"That's cool, your parents just sent me some good money through Venmo, so I think I've got this covered," Sophie said with a smirk. Kevin chuckled and nodded.

"Okay hot shot."

Sophie pulled up to a bagel shop, the two of them getting out of the car together. Sophie didn't even realize until they walked in and were stared at by many girls inside that she was with an extremely attractive boy. Kevin was gorgeous, and any person with eyes could see that.

Sophie felt her cheeks get red as she felt plenty of eyes on the two of them, the girls in the bagel shop gawking at Kevin and glaring at her.

Sophie stepped up to the counter when it was her turn and ordered for herself and the child they were babysitting, and then stepped to the side so Kevin could order for himself. The girl behind the counter stared at him while he ordered, the two making eye contact almost the whole time.

Kevin stepped back and turned around, looking at the fridge full of drinks behind them. He took Sophie's arm and spun her around, not letting go once she was turned. "What do you want to drink?" he asked.

Her face turning even redder, Sophie avoided looking around, knowing that the girls were watching them even closer now since he had touched her. Sophie reached over and grabbed herself something to drink along with another drink and then smiled at Kevin awkwardly before squirming out of his grip and turning back to the counter.

He grabbed a drink for himself and then stood next to her, placing the bottle of chocolate milk the counter. He leaned closer to her, making her heart pound as he put his lips next to her ear. "Is it just me or are the people in here staring at us?" he asked.

Sophie looked at him and couldn't help but giggle silently. At least he had noticed it too. She nodded in response and then made a face that showed how uncomfortable she was, getting a laugh out of Kevin. He looked around and bowed his head to the girls standing around the shop, smiling awkwardly.

Sophie took the bagels when they were finished and paid the girl as quickly as possible at the counter. When she was done she grabbed Kevin's arm and pulled him out of the shop, the two of them practically running back to the car.

"What the hell was wrong with those people?" he asked with a laugh. "Why were they staring at you like that?"

Sophie looked at him with a shocked expression. "Staring at me? They were practically drooling over you! The only reason they were looking at me is because they were mad that I was with you!"

Kevin looked at her with a smirk. "That girl behind the counter did seem to be giving me some pretty intense eye contact," he replied. Sophie chuckled and pushed his arm.

"Next time, we go to a different bagel shop," she said. Kevin looked over at her with another smile.

"Are you implying that there's going to be a next time?" he asked. Sophie looked back at him with a chuckle.

"Of course, we're friends now," she answered. Kevin couldn't help but frown.

"Friends," he echoed.
