Pulitzer's POV
I was sitting at my desk, finishing some paperwork.
"Mr. Pulitzer," Hannah said, opening the door. "You have some people here to see you. They said something about having information 'bout the newsies and their weak link or something like that?" I looked up.
"Send them in, Hannah." I watched as a blonde woman and a dark-haired man walk into my office and sit in the chairs in front of my desk."So, why have you come in today?" I asked the couple standing in front of my desk.
"We know you have had problems with the newsies and their...tendencies...to rebel. We just want to help you fix the problem."
"And how are you planning on doing that?" I asked again.
"We're the parents of two of your newsies. Crutchie and Kicks to be exact." the man said. I nodded.
"They have been quite the catalysts around here." I noted. The man shook his head.
"It's the girl. She's the one that Crutchie fights for. She's the one that all of the newsies fight for." he explained. "They adore her. They would die for her."
"And how is this relevant?" I interjected, getting annoyed.
"We-" the man looked at his wife, "I, came up with a way to stop the revolting. If you take Kicks out of the picture and put her in, say, the Refuge, the newsies come to break her out-"
"And then we arrest the newsies and make sure they stay separated for good." I added, standing up from behind my desk.
"Exactly!" the man said, standing with me.
"What do you want out of this?" I asked. "No one comes to me and wants nothing in return for my services."
"I just want to to see some justice." he replied.
"Walter." the woman said quietly. "Are you sure this is right?"
"Minnie, just be quiet!" he shouted. He raised his hand and she stared him down. He lowered his hand and turned back to me. "Is this a deal or not?" He wondered, extending his hand. I nodded, shaking his outstretched hand.
"This plan of yours had better work." I warned.
"Don't worry. It will." he assured.
Kick's POV
I woke up in the middle of the night, after tossing and turning in bed for a while. I looked over at Crutchie, who was sound asleep.
"Lucky." I muttered. I pulled my knees up to my chest and put my chin on my knees. I closed my eyes and drifted back to sleep.
A few hours later, I heard a loud noise from the Penthouse. It sounded like something falling on the roof. I climbed out of bed and crept over to Crutchie. I shook his shoulders and whispered, "Crutchie! Crutchie! I think someone's on the roof."
"It's probably just Jack. Don't worry and go back to sleep." He mumbled, rolling back over. I could tell that he was extremely tired, so I decided to leave him alone. I quickly changed into my clothes and approached the window. I crawled out and crept up the fire escape. I looked around and saw no one.
"Hey Kicks." a voice said. I went cold and turned around.
"No." I panicked. "You're supposed to be in jail."
"Nice to see you, too." Oscar grinned. He lunged at me and I dodged him. I turned and looked for him. He was nowhere to be seen. I started to back up when suddenly, someone hit me hard on the head. I fell to the ground and then, everything went black.
