Sometimes....it hurts.

The next week was TIS week at school, which meant no school. Jay and Erin had plans for coffee the first day and then she wpuld probably be with Kelly most of the other days. She couldn't help but think there was something about this guy, but she loved Kelly and she would be with him forever. They had a cafe they would meet at which was a small in local town one. She basically wanted to have coffee to get to know the new kid. Although if people saw her they would probably think she was on drugs.

When Erin got to the cafe, she saw Jay facing the other way. She went to the other chair and set her bag on the back of it. Her hair was a little wavy today but she had her crop top with jeans and no makeup.

"Sorry I over slept at Kelly's." She said as the waiter came over.

"No problem." Jay said shrugging his shoulders.

"I'll just take a cofee and a pack of aspirin." Erin said as the waiter walked away.

"Make it 2 packs!" She screamed and he nodded his head laughing.

Erin put her head down and Jay chuckled. "Rough night? A hangover I'm guessing?"

"Kelly's parties." She said keeping her head down.

"Do you even like the guy he seems like a jerk."

"I love Kelly, he is the only one I have really. He isn't a jerk he just has to act like one cause he's popular." Erin said drinking water and taking a few pills.

Jay nodded his head, staying quiet and so Erin continued "So why Chicago?"

"Um my mom wanted to get away from my dad, every night my dad would come home wasted and hurt my mom. My brothers only 14 so its hard and finally my mom decided she was done and we came here."

"I'm really sorry I'm sure its tough." Erin said nodding her head.

"What about you what's up with your parents? You got a good home life?"

Erin hesitated to tell him but she did, "My dad left me and I never knew him, my mom was a drunk wasn't even a mom really, I remember one night she came home from a bar wasted and I held her hair back when she was throwing up, she went to sleep and I was so scared. Eventually she woke up and the first thing she said to me was to grab her cigarettes and beer. I was 8." Erin said drinking coffee.

"Wow, I'm so sorry Erin."

"Yeah its okay I don't know where she is now. I mean we keep in touch sometimes but nothing serious. Mostly her telling me she's clean but then she does more drugs the next day."

"So who do you live with then?"

"Well 2 years ago I met a family, camille and Hank Voight they told me if I needed anything that they we're there. Last year my mom didn't pay the rent and we got evicted and she went to jail for so many things the cops never found me. But I was scared to ask the Voight's to stay with them, Hank found me on the street and told me to stay with them. He got custody a few months later and he treats me like his own they have a son who is 2 years younger than me named Justin. He hates me. But so far things have been good with that family and i really really don't wanna go back to the life I'm living." Erin said breathing and starting to cry.

"Anything I can do to help..."

"Thanks but I'm fine really I  have my boyfriend."

"You seem like a good person undereath the crop tops and cheerleader crap, basketball stars girlfriend--"

"Hey Jay? I am who I am there is no excuses but I would like people to think of me as more than just a party girl and Kelly's girl." Erin said getting irritated.

She got up from her chair and grabbed her bag not making eye contact with Jay. "Erin I didn't mean it like--"

"If you'll excuse me I'm gonna go make out with my boyfriend." Erin said leaving the door.

He looked behind him and saw her walk out.

I really screwed things up with her didn't I?
