SHAWN MENDES

Landing in LaGuardia airport is a bit of a blur. I have no issues collecting luggage because I just brought a carry on gear bag. I'm only staying for one night. Emerging from the arrivals gate, I immediately gain the attention of a small crowd of female teens. There's probably a dozen, which isn't too bad at all for New York. I'm still baffled that people find out where exactly I'll be when I've released no statements about it whatsoever.

I offer a bright grin, waving as I make my way over. They greet me with excited squeals and beaming smiles. I take selfies with each of them, stopping to chat just for five minutes considering it's a small group. Thankfully, I wasn't disturbed on the flight over. I don't fly privately, even though Andrew insists I should. I always get first class though, where not many people know my name. There'd be the odd few, and I'd be happy to take a quick photo before shoving in my earphones and zoning out. I've always been lucky enough that fans respect my privacy on flights.

I texted Trinity whilst I was at Pearson, telling her not to bother collecting me from the airport. Firstly, she doesn't have a car. The cab fares would be through the roof. Secondly, I don't know if she's comprehended that if we go out somewhere together, there'll be fans and photos and speculation. I'm not sure I'm ready to introduce her to that life yet. Trinity knows me, yes, but that doesn't mean she has to be thrown into my hectic popularity all of a sudden. When she's ready for the craziness, I'll be more than happy to escort her through it.

"How come you're in New York all alone?" a fan asks me curiously, eyebrows furrowed.

I chuckle, "I'm meeting a friend."

Another fan smirks at me, "A girlfriend?"

I lick my lips, feeling a rush of heat flood my cheeks and neck. The girls erupt into laughter, causing me to shift on my feet awkwardly and chuckle sheepishly.

"Um, no," I eventually say, "not a girlfriend."

Because it's true. Trin isn't my girlfriend. Yet.

"Well, enjoy your time with your not a girlfriend," one of them jokes and I shake my head with a smile.

I give everybody one last quick hug before leaving the airport, finding a row of cabs parked outside. I hop into one, informing the driver of my destination before sitting back and clipping my seatbelt, pulling out my phone.

Shawn:
Landed! In a cab now. X

Trinity:
  at least you're alive!

I chuckle lowly to myself.

Shawn:
  You'd miss me if I wasn't.

Trinity:
  don't talk like that!

Shawn:
  U started it!

Trinity:
you're a child. anyway, i would cook for you but i'm way too tired after work. but i do happen to have a bundle of the BEST takeout menus in the city

I smile, picturing her overly excited reaction when the delivery guy presents her with her food.

Shawn:
Takeout it is. Be there soon <3
