Chapter 18//It should have been me..

(Liam's POV)

We get to the hospital as fast as we can. I can't believe that she tried to take her own life. But what hurts even more is that I am a part of the reason why...
"Em! How is she? What happened? What did she do? God damnit! It's my fault! I'm the reason she is in that hospital room. Fuck, it should have been me! It's my Goddamn f-" I say before being interrupted by Em.
"Geez L, chill. It's not your freaking fault okay! It's no one's fault!"
"But I-" she cuts me off again.
"Suck it up and let me finish! It's not your fault and you know that! God, she even knows that. So now if you'll cut your bullshit and let me tell you what the hell happened!" she  finishes. Well according to her intimidation, it's clearly that we're twins. Meeh I'll always be 2 minutes older.
"Well start explaining for God sake!" Amelia yells behind us.
"We went to her house and no one opened the door. At the time like this her parents usually is at work so we kind of kicked the door open. Or I did, Jake motivated me by yelling 'Go Em!'. Anyways. We yell for her and no one answers, so we go upstairs to her room. Then was when we saw her. She was unconscious on the floor with a pill box in her hand, and pills spilled on the floor. I tried waking her up but with no result, so we called the ambulance and lucky for us , she doesn't have a lock on her phone, so we called her parents and they are on their way. And here we are. Waiting for answers"
Overdosed. She overdosed on pills. She might not even wake up.. No. No. No. She was there for you when you were in the hospital. So you be there for her! Until she wakes up! She WILL wake up!
My thoughts gets interrupted by Aileen's parents walking in.
"WHERE IS SHE? WHERE IS MY DAUGHTER AND WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO HER!?" her father screams. So that's her father. Shit he works out. Well now I have a reason to be scared to tell them that this is kind of my fault..
"She is in surgery right now. She overdosed on sleeping pills" Jake says.
"Why did she even take those? What happened boy whose name I don't know?" her mother asks Jake.
Jake doesn't say anything. He just stupidly looks over at me. Well shit.
"Uhm.. can I explain it to you under six eyes sir?" I say.
He nods and we go inside a little empty waiting room.
"Okay so.. we uhm.. we had an argument. And she flipped out. I said some crap to her that I really fucking regret and then she... she yelled at me. And then she kinda, by accident I think, told me about her past.. with her ex. Then she stormed out and after realizing what she just told me, I of course ran after her. Then she yelled and walked away crying. Again I couldn't just let her go. Not like that. So a couple minutes later I run after her again. Then... uhm.. something happened.."
I take a deep breath and looks down.
"Cut the crap boy. WHAT. HAPPENED?" her dad yells.
"She uhm.. she was cornered by a guy. And he was kissing her but she wasn't kissing him. I figured that something was off and when I walked closer then I could see that she was frozen. I immediately ran up to that coward and tackled him and told him to stay the hell away from her. When he left and she came to herself again, she freaked out. Began to shake and cry. Then she screamed at me that she couldn't take this life anymore, and before I even could protest she ran to her car and drove away. We looked everywhere for her and then they found her unconscious in her room. Overdosed"
"My poor baby.. is. Is she going to be okay?" her mother says while crying. Her dad suddenly pulls her into his embrace and hold onto her.
"She is strong. She's going to make it out. Alive!" I say in a comforting way.
"Thank you for still checking up on her boy"  her dad says with what looks like a small smile.
"So you're not going to beat the crap out of me? It's my fault. I should have been me in there, not her"
"Hey stop it. It's not your fault son. And it should have been no one in there. Not her nor you. She is strong and as you just said, she'll make it! So no I'm not going to kick your ass. But mark my words son, if you hurt her again then I'll recommend you to sleep with one eye open!" he says. Then laughed at his joke. It was a joke... right?
"Not taking any risks sir!"
After talking with Aileen's parents, we walked out to the others. About 20 minutes later, a doctor came out. It's Dr.Stevens. My doctor.
"Hey Dr.Stevens. Anything new?" Emily says. She also knows her. Emily has always been my well, from the day I found out that I have cancer. She's been going with me to all my checkups and appointments.
"Hello Emily, Liam. The surgery just finished"
