By the time the final bell of the school day rang, Meg was in the locker room with a handful of other soccer team hopefuls. She knew some from previous years, but never grew particularly close to a lot of them. Luckily Marge reminded her to pack her gym bag, or else she would've forgotten it altogether.
Meg sometimes had a pretty bad habit of forgetting. That's why she likes to keep things organized and finish her school work earlier than it would be due.
She quickly undressed before slipping her maroon cotton shorts on followed by a grey and maroon shirt.
The coach entered the dressing room (which is okay because she was female) and told the group they had five minutes til practice. Meg didn't rush like the others as she pulled her brunette locks into a long ponytail and slipped on her soccer cleats.
A girl with a wild pinkish afro approached Meg as they walked down to the field. "Oh my gosh! It's been soo long since soccer season! I'm sad we've had no classes together, we should totally hang out more like last year." the girl radiated purity and excitement.
"Cierra wow it does seem like forever. Dye your hair?" Meg asked with slightly less enthusiasm as her mind was a bit preoccupied as usual.
"Yeah." Cierra chuckled slightly as she played with a curl and continued. "Fighting the dress code policy and all, what does hair color have to do with our education?" Meg nodded in agreement before their talk ended when their cleats met the grass of the soccer field, already set up for tryouts.
Coach Brown stood at the front of the goal, quite short compared to it (and quite short in general) as she explained the schedule. All girls will get to tryout in three different areas, ball control, defense, and goal keeping. The positions were chosen to see where each girl was at in general, but didn't solidify certain positions for anyone. Meg herself usually played defense or forward as she was decent in both areas.
As she expected, Meg did rather well in both the ball control and defense areas. She sometimes lets her aggression get ahead of her and knocked a few other girls down but quickly apologized and helped them up afterwards. But now was the time Meg was dreading the past hour, she had to be the goal keeper.
Meg wasn't very hand-eye coordinated hence why she played soccer and not something like softball. The foam gloves snugged her hands as she strapped them around her wrist and wriggled into a goalie jersey. Her cleats made imprints in the dirt as she made her way in front of the white net. The other girls were lined up across from her, each with a ball at their feet ready to strike.
Meg shook off a bit of nerves and got herself into position as the girls began kicking. She caught the first few balls, and then a few more flew past her and into the net behind her. She was beginning to get somewhat of a hang of it until out of the corner of her eye she thought she saw a bit of blonde hair walking through the parking lot. Her head turned and a few moments later her face went numb.
Her attention was pulled back to the field and she wasn't exactly sure what happened. It was only when Coach Brown sped over to her with a towel she noticed she was bleeding. As if on cue, her nose gave a sharp pain, making the rest of her face wince with it. The coach set the towel under her nose to catch the blood and informed her to go inside to the nurse.
Meg nodded, she hoped her nose wasn't broken or else she may not be able to play at all. She tore the gloves off her hands and dropped them into the grass as she took the towel from Coach Brown.
They grey sky shivered with a grumbling of thunder as rain began to fall. Meg made it to the school before the pouring of the rain began and rushed inside. Her hair dripped slightly from the drizzling and her cleats squeaked against the shiny floor of the hallways. She kept glancing at the towel as it grew redder each time.
She kept walking towards the nurses office when she saw a dark haired boy reach for the door leading outside on the other end. The same golden haired boy she saw outside tagged behind the other boy. She recognized both of them instantly as Emmett and Jasper. She sighed slightly of relief knowing she didn't hallucinate them earlier and that she wasn't totally obsessed with him.
Emmett pried the door slightly open before placing a hand over Jasper when he tried to walk in. Emmett glanced up and met eyes with Meg before his eyes widened and he frantically shut the door. Jasper looked at him with a confused stare, not noticing the girl inside as Emmett took hold of his wrist and dragged him away.
"Great..." Meg thought "Not only does Jasper hate me but now his whole family" Her eyes rolled slightly before returning to normal as she reached the door of the nurses office.
"Good news, your nose isn't broken, only bruised and a little swollen." A short, stubby lady chimed with a smile as she scurried over to a fridge in her room. "Here, take this dear and the swelling should go down in a few hours." Meg took the ice pack from the ladies hand and replied with a "Thank You." Before cleaning some dried blood from above her lip and placing the pack directly on her nose.
The door creaked open with Meghan's touch and in the hallway stood the familiar tall figure of Cierra holding Megs things. "Ahh you're ok!" She yelled cheerfully as she set down her bag and threw herself into a hug with the girl. Meg reluctantly returned the gesture and managed to smile. "I can drive you home if you want, you've had a rough day." Cierra offered, ruffling the shorter girls hair slightly.
"That would be amazing, thank you." She followed the girl out to her car, a decent sized truck to fit the 6' tall Cierra, and climbed into the passenger seat. Her eyes trailed out the window and to the raindrops that ran down them. She was glad to have connected with Cierra again because she knew how badly she needed friends who aren't as bipolar and unpredictable as her project partner. It was time to talk to Jasper about his real feelings about Meg, she was ready to respect whether it was friendly, or hatred.
A/n Well I'm really bad at keeping up the story. Hopefully I add more soon ;) Thanks for 300 reads yo! That's INSANE! Love Always- M
