The next Meg opened her eyes, it was still very dark outside. Her forehead was dripping with beads of sweat and she sat up slowly, running a hand through her hair. Her green eyes found their way through the darkness to her alarm clock which read, 4:23 am.
She found it useless to go back to sleep now, even if she could. Her nightmare seemed pretty vivid though she could hardly remember any details, only that Jasper was in it...somehow.
She pushed her comforter back to the foot of her bed and climbed out from under the blanket. She was careful to open her door, making sure it didn't creak as it went. The last thing she wanted was to wake Bob and Marge.
Her feet creaked on the hardwood flooring with every step no matter how lightly she tried moving. Eventually she made her way to the bathroom and shut the door, locking it behind her. She sighed a breath of relief and turned on the sink. She twisted her long brown hair into a messy knot on the top of her head and tied it with the hair tie around her wrist.
She leaned down and cupped her hands, splashing the cold water onto her face. It was fairly refreshing and knocked her out of her exhaustion for the time being. This seemed to be the routine the past few days and it only seemed to make the bags under her eyes grow more prominent each morning. Once done, she carefully dried her face with a towel and pulled her hair down from its bun.
She decided to start with her makeup that day, already being in the bathroom. Her look was kept natural since she didn't have the energy to add an eyeliner wing or anything eccentric, concealing her dark under eyes, powdering her face to make it look somewhat more even, filling in her eyebrows, brushing on some mascara, and adding a small amount of blush to her cheeks to make herself look a bit more lively.
Her hair was next, which was the moment she remembered she was going to Jaspers house that day to finish the project. She tapped her fingers on the counter as she studied her hair in the mirror, trying to decide what to do. Megs hair takes a while to curl because of its length but she figured she had time. She took her curling wand and carefully curled each strand of hair. After every piece was curled, she ran her fingers through her hair and ruffled it to separate the curls. Good enough.
Once satisfied with her look more or less, she crept out of the bathroom again. She must've been in there for a while because the closest clock now read 6:34 am. She entered her room again to reveal Eleanor laying face down on her bed. "Ella? What are you doing?" she asked the girl as she approached the bed.
Eleanor groaned and rolled over onto her back, careful to not mess up her own hair or makeup. "I'm just a tiny little bit tired but it's cool." She has no idea. She moved her gaze from the roof to Meg who was still in her pajamas. "Besides we need to get you dressed." Eleanor pulled herself up from the bed and stretched her arms above her. She was wearing a tight, white turtleneck, short soft-green overalls, and her hair in messy space buns, her bangs swept to the side.
"A turtleneck?" Meg questioned with a smirk. "Usually you only wear those when you get hick-" Eleanor cut her off immediately with a wave of her hand "I don't want to talk about it!"
"Alright..." Meg shrugged it off and followed Ella to her closet. "I'm glad you're here. I don't think I have the energy to wear more than sweatpants today but god knows you'd never let that happen. Besides I get to go to the Cullens house today." Eleanor bumped her shoulder and made a long "awe". "Shut up..." Meg could feel her cheeks heat up and grew immediately thankful Eleanor couldn't see her blushing in the darkness.
Eleanor giggled as she reached up and pulled out a few pieces of clothing, laying them on the bed. "No no no. No dresses." Meg protested, shoving the garment back at the small girl. If she barely had energy for jeans, she really didn't have energy for dresses. Any other day she would've worn one just not that day.
"Ah ah ah you wanted to look nice didn't you, put in on." Ella demanded with a smile, shoving it back. Meg argued no more and took the dress reluctantly. Ella stepped out of her room to let Meg change as she sat outside the now closed door. Meg undressed and slipped the dress over top of her undergarments. The dress was a soft blue and ended a little over halfway down her thighs. The straps were lace and the lace lining continued around the front of her chest.
She opened the door and Eleanor fell backwards with it. "Hey a warning next time would be nice." Ella stuck her arm up for help which Meg took and pulled her to her feet. Ella gasped loudly which in turn made Meg jump slightly. "You look so good! Oh my gosh this may be my best work!" Ella squealed. Meg placed her hands on Eleanor's shoulders and attempted to quiet her a bit.
"Right right, accessories." She said calming down slightly. "Gold anklet, white sneakers, gold necklace. Got it? I'm going to go talk to Nanny Marge." Eleanor winked subtly and left the room again. Meg obeyed her instructions and got everything Eleanor told her to. Yet, to be more comfortable, she pulled on an oversized, white zip-up hoodie and left it open. Once ready, finally, she left her room with her backpack.
"You look very lovely." Marge chimed, rising from her chair and placing a hand on Megs cheek. Eleanor nodded in agreement, her face glowing with pride in the outfit she chose for Meg. "Thank you Nana." The girl said quietly, not liking all the attention she was getting in the moment. It made her feel like she was specifically dressing up for Jasper Hale and it's not like he was important enough to care about dressing up for.
"Well we better get going or Felix will probably kill us." The brunette said quickly changing the subject. Eleanor shot up from her spot on the floor, remembering her boyfriend parked outside and turned on her phone to three missed text messages. "Yep we have to go, bye Nanny Marge!" The small girl exclaimed taking Meg by the wrist and pulling her outside.
Eleanor skipped to the car and pulled the door open. She gave her best puppy eyed expression to her boyfriend with her apology, "I'm sorry we're late, I had to help Meg get ready today you know." Felix laughed slightly "Alright, alright. Just hop in so we can go ok?" He stuck a hand out towards her side which Eleanor took and used to pull herself into the passenger seat. Meg climbed into her usual spot behind her seat in the second row.
Felix looked awful tired as he rubbed his eyes, beginning to back out of the driveway. "Guess you guys had some fun last-" Megs joke was cut off by Eleanor clearing her throat and shooting a look to the back seat that told Meg to stay quiet. She didn't finish, though she gave Eleanor a confused glare.
"Sorry, I guess I have a bit of a hangover from the football party last night." Felix stated, figuring they noticed how awful he looked. "Yeah I told you not to go to the stupid party remember?" Eleanor mumbled, sinking into her seat and crossing her arms. "We're not doing this here..." Felix replied in a hushed tone to which Ella rolled her eyes at and looked out the window.
Meg was confused as she shifted uncomfortably in the back seat. She was completely unaware if the two had problems. They always seemed like the perfect couple. Eleanor would've told her if something was going on right? Meg shrugged it off, thinking it was just a petty argument as they finally rolled into the parking lot of Forks High School.
A/n if you read that "the earth is flat" sentence earlier i'm sorry it was a joke my friend said, the earth is round folks. Anyways Love Always- M
