Meg walked to the front of the Cullens living room. The sky shined pink and purple outside with the reflection of the setting sun. Luckily, the golden sun itself was shrouded behind clouds and didn't bother the vampires. Meg did feel uncomfortable looking between every person she thought she knew and who now seemed so different.
Carlisle had a feeling different than the gentle and kind one Meg received every visit. Esme seemed more of a stepmother than motherly type. Meg still felt betrayal towards Alice. Rosalie seemed to be the only one her feelings didn't really change for, she possibly even respected her more then. Edward, Emmett, and Jasper had yet to arrive but Meg wanted to ease into all the confrontation then have a room full of vampires right away.
"I guess I'll get the easier question out of the way, you guys aren't going to kill me right?" Meg asked that more confidently than she felt, playing it off as more of a joke than a serious question she's been pondering.
Alice giggled lightly at the question and gentle smiles played onto the faces of Carlisle and Esme, yet Rosalie rolled her eyes.
"If they didn't tell you I'll be happy to. We're what we like to call...vegetarian." Carlisle spoke as if talking to a patient with the same calm voice and charm as usual. Meg made a face that told him she didn't quite get what he said. "We don't eat, or drain humans. Only animals that we hunt in the woods." Meg nodded to inform she now did understand and the fact put her a little more at ease.
"So...I suspect you guys turn to dust out in the sun then? Is that why you don't show up to school on the sunny days?"
Alice smiled and answered this one for the group, "No, we don't turn to dust. We sort of...sparkle?" She questioned herself as she didn't know how to explain it.
"Sparkle?" Meg raised an eyebrow and paused her pacing across the room.
"Like Tiffany's in the morning." Rosalie pitched in as well, her mood softly lightening after Meg laughed a little at her joke.
"That I'd like to see some time but this is a dream so." Meg ran a hand through her brunette locks as her eyes widened a second more again thinking she was a little crazy. The Cullens glanced to her in confusion. Did she actually think she was dreaming? "So, how did this all happen? Were you born with fangs and a taste for blood?"
"That's not exactly how it works. Actually most all of us were turned by Carlisle. I fell in love with him, then grew very sick, Edward grew sick as well. Carlisle turned both of us to save our lives." Esme smiled up at Carlisle who wrapped his arms around her sweetly. They really were perfect together.
"What about you Rose? You don't have to answer..." Meg asked, wanting to at least become acquaintances with the girl, it probably wasn't a good thing to have a vampire on your bad side.
Rose sat for a minute, staring at Meg before deciding. "I'll talk, but only to stop you if you get any ideas of turning yourself. It was long ago. I was engaged to a handsome man, I was wealthy and beautiful, I had it all. One night, he got drunk with his friends. Usually those types of memories become a blur over time but I remember ever second of them beating me and leaving me on the streets in a pool of my own blood. Carlisle came and turned me. He must've sensed all the blood miles away. I got my revenge on all of them and joined the Cullen clan. I met Emmett soon after and he became a vampire too. I knew I was meant to be with him, we've been together ever since."
"Wow that sounds..." Meg began before being cut off again by Rose, "Romantic? Yeah I know."
"Awful." Meg finished her thought causing Rose to furrow her brows. "You seemed to be fairly happy, it must've been hard to go through such a change right?"
To avoid becoming too compassionate, Rose stood up from the couch with another comment. "Yes, it was hard, but of course you wouldn't know." With that she stormed out of the room herself, going outside to presumably hunt, her eyes turning black as she walked.
"Don't mind Rosalie, she's like that with everyone. Emmett's one of the only people able to calm her down." Esme added as she watched Rose walk out, slamming the door behind her. It was a miracle the door didn't break as it seemed her force shook the whole house.
"Oh yeah that reminds me, the color changing eyes?" Meg asked after she turned back to the group, trying to shake off the obvious feeling that Rose hated her guts.
"That is based on whether we're hungry. When they're black we need to hunt, when they're gold, we don't."
"Great, totally normal color changing eyes." Meghan mumbled under her breath.
Alice jumped up shortly after and rushed over to Meg "Well I don't think it's a great idea to throw all of this at her at once, I can take her home and we'll go from there." Meg went to protest, but Carlisle agreed as did Esme and Edward, she couldn't really argue against that.
"To be frank I don't really want any part of this. I'm just going to wake up and forget it anyways so what's the point." Again, confusion coated the expressions of the people in front of her. Meg still felt she was crazy and allowed her lightheadedness to regain its control. She felt as though her lightheadedness was her body trying to wake up. She stumbled a little as she followed Alice to the front door. Within a few more steps, Meg let herself succumb to her body's wishes and the world shut off again.
