Set her free

Solidarity, her favourite,

Depression? Nowhere near it.

She plays a foolish game,

Day and night

.

A crazy balance of nevers and don'ts,

The lyrics, she gives them light,

The combination of sweet and edge,

The sugar coated version of life.

.

The fairy tales for teens,

The most cherished of moments;

All the Ever Afters, hugs and kisses,

The simplicity of it; happy endings for all

.

As a girl, she only wanted to grow up,

As a teen, we all wish to rewind,

To return to those moments,

The pure joy of everything

.

Where the guy gets the girl,

And there's nothing that can't be fixed,

Where success is at your fingertips,

And your emotions no longer remain mixed

.

Toddler to child,

Child to teen,

Teen to adult.

All transitions with large indifference

.

As a kid, no one dies, they simply 'go to heaven'

Growing up, it's the hard, cold truth; they're gone forever

Adulthood is when expected to be wiser, responsible, overall better,

Since when can one be judged based on their age?

.

Tis the abyss of adolescence that stole her shine,

The expectancy of success that told her she couldn't,

The waves of sadness felt from a loss,

The tender touch of a friend, only to be ripped away

.

She's fallen deeper,

And deeper

Pick her up,

Please,

.

No matter whom you may be,

No matter what others think of you,

No difference in the rumours,

Nothing matters,

Just as long as you can,

You can set her free.
