Taehyung pov

I nailed the cross upside down into the wall behind me. As I heard the boys heading down the stairs, I sat down cross legged on the floor and placed the candle in front of myself. I lit the wick and turned the book to the page Jimin highlighted for me. I wasn't sure what to do, but I figured if Jimin didn't have to give a 3000 word essay explanation on it, it wasn't too hard. I read the Latin on the page out loud, thankful that I was actually there for class when we took Latin reading lessons. As soon as I finished with the last word on the page, I looked down at the paper Jimin gave me and took a deep breath. I felt nervous as I read the few words scribbled:

"Into my presence, I summon the demon Jungkook...."

The candle blew out, and I was left in complete darkness. I looked around anxiously.
"Oooh, you're even cuter up close."
I gasped as the candle lit back up and I was inches away from a boy with glowing red eyes.
It took everything in me not to scream, but the last thing I wanted to do was upset him like Jimin said.
"Y-you're a demon?" I asked.
He smirked, "aren't you a demon hunter? Shouldn't you know the difference between a demon and a human?"
I stared at him, his curly black hair fell below his eyes and he was almost... mesmerizing. I shook my head, "uhm. Jimin doesn't like to call us demon hunters. We're just paranormal investigators or something like that."
"Whatever, either way my hyungs don't like you here."
I looked back up at him with slight fear, "what about you?"

His smirk turned into a real smile, "I like you. Jimin too. You're both fun. Those little girls were getting boring to scare after a while."
I sat there quietly thinking before I spoke up out of curiosity, "So I have to ask, when you say you like me, do you like, have any plans to rip me in half and use my intestines as a necklace? Just making sure your version of the word 'like' and my version of the word 'like' are the same thing," I explained looking for clarification.

He started laughing, but it wasn't the scary demon laugh I was expecting. It was a cute laugh that made my heart flutter just the slightest bit. It must be a demon curse, I bet this was their way of possessing me, by getting me to fall for one of them.

"That idea sounds fun, but if I did that then you'd be dead. You're much more interesting alive," he smiled as he placed his head in his hand.
I looked over at him, trying to figure out what Jimin actually wanted me to ask him. I probably should've asked Jimin before I summoned the demon to be quite honest.
"Jimin sent you over to summon me and you don't even know what to ask me?" The demon, apparently named Jungkook, scoffed.
My face fell and I shook my head in disappointment at myself.

"It's okay, I'm not a very good demon just like you're not a very good demon investigator. We even each other out I guess," he shrugged.
"You seem scary to me, so why do you say that?" I asked. I've never seen a self-conscious demon, but at the same time I've never seen a demon so who knows?
He looked into my eyes with what seemed like genuine sincerity. "I-uhm... I don't know. It's just.... I don't find this whole demon thing as cool as my brothers. They just want to hurt and feed off the fear of the humans around us. I just want to have fun, and.... I don't know.... it would be good to make some friends too? My brothers are great, but one murdered almost his entire family, one hung himself and wanders around regretting it, and one.... Well he just scares me."

"What did you do to get this way than?" I asked, but I couldn't tell if the emotion I saw in his eyes was genuine, or if it was some act I couldn't see past.
"I-uhm.... sold my soul."
I gasped, "Why would you do that?"
He shrugged, "It wasn't like it was over something stupid. My sister was ill, and a man with black eyes showed up and promised to take away her illness. I thought he was joking but I still said yes. You know he didn't even give me any years in advance? He just possessed my body right then and there and I was stuck in my head for almost ten years before finally getting exorcised."
"I thought when a demon is exorcised out of a body that the human can still survive though?" I asked.

He shook his head, "Some do, but because I already sold my soul I got sent to hell with him."
"You... Were you in hell for long? You don't look like-"
"The whole cracked skin, random cut marks, blisters everywhere, Exorcist style demon? The one who constantly turns their body into awkward positions and breaks their bones for a more scary effect type? I could look that way if I wanted, but I prefer to keep my body looking as normal as I can, it's more comforting. You're also right thought, I wasn't in hell for that long. You don't start getting permanent damage in hell until you've burned for like, at least 100 years."

"Wait you know the Exorcist?" I asked out of curiosity. I knew if Jimin was here he'd slap me for asking such a stupid question.

"Let's see.... I was born in 1979, and the Exorcist came out in 1973 so yeah, I was still around. It's not like I'm thousands of years old or anything dumbass. That movie was even a classic in the 80's."

I nodded, slightly offended, "I guess you're right."
"I told Jin we should watch it together since he hung himself back in the sixties and never got to see it. But he told me we can't until you guys get out of our house."
"Who's Jin? And why would we get out?"

His eyes widened, "I suggest you forget about what I just said. If Jin finds out you know his name he might hurt you."
"Are you.... worried about me?" A small smile appeared on my face.
He smirked, "let's just say, if I wasn't forced to stay attached to this family, I would surely attach to you."
"I don't know whether or not to be scared of that or flattered," I muttered, amazed at the events that were occurring right now.

He looked around, "my brothers are going to be looking for me. I'll answer one more question, but only cause you're entertaining."
I thought for a second. If I was Jimin what would I ask.
"What will it take to get you all unattached from this family?"

He remained quiet, and looked up at me. "Trust me, I want to help you so you'll all leave safely. But there's only two things you can really do to help yourselves. One, leave this place. We're only feeding off the family's fear. We don't have plans to actually hurt the family in any way so they should be fine if you guys leave the case.
But, since I'm sure you guys won't listen to my warning, there's also option two. You would have to convince my big brother, the one we consider the boss, to let us unattach ourselves. He tells us what to do, and convincing him would be the only way to get us unattached from these god forsaken people so that I can have the house back to being peacefully quiet."
"Why do you need to attach to something anyways? Weren't you just fine beforehand?"
"Sorry pretty boy but I have to go. Before I go, what's your name?"
"Taehyung. But they call me V."
"Well Taehyung, do me a favor. Let Jimin handle my big brother if you guys really want us to get unattached. I don't want to see your head on a stick. Okay?"
I nodded, and as soon as the candlelight flicked off and on, he was gone.
