Jimin pov
As I walked in I placed my bags beside the door way. The two boys followed, awkwardly holding their bags as they looked around.
"Wow your house is huge," Taehyung's eyes widened as he spoke.
I tried to follow where their eyes were wandering. Nobody was ever really around my house to comment on it. I guess I forgot how well the Vatican financed me after I moved away from Italy. My house wasn't a mansion or anything, but it was built directly by the Vatican so it had a lot of Roman architecture on the inside.
What I hated most about it was that all of the walls were painted a light cream color that I wasn't allowed to change. Various pictures of saints were hung on the walls while Roman columns surrounded the corners of each room. Every surface you could practically think of was marble too; marble countertops, marble window sills, even a marble staircase. None of it was really my style, but once again, I couldn't change it. I couldn't get away from the church no matter how hard I tried to.
When they first built it I even remember them wanting to put in those fancy glass windows with the church pictures on them. Fortunately I was able to convince them that this was enough for a house. I hated the fact I couldn't make this place my own, but I couldn't be ungrateful either.
"It's like I just walked into a Church, and to think I didn't think you were that religious," Taehyung laughed.
"You're actually right, I'm not very religious. The church has helped me a lot but I don't put my faith into religion like most. Honestly though, would you turn down a free six bedroom house if the church gave it to you?" I joked.
They both shook their head vigorously.
"Do you live by yourself?" Jhope asked.
I nodded.
"Doesn't it get lonely? Does your family at least come to visit you?" Taehyung looked at me concerned.
"Remember what I told you about secrets Taehyung? Honesty here's a new lesson for you. If people never talk about their parents, it's fairly obvious something may have occurred."
He sighed, "sorry."
"Well, you don't have to be lonely anymore! We're here!" Jhope smiled.
"You're acting like you're moving in," I raised an eyebrow.
"Our lease is up in a few weeks," Taehyung shrugged.
They both looked at each other and smiled, I was terrified.
"I think I should have just let the demons get you," I said, stiffening my shoulders.
Jhope pouted, "Come on Jiminnnn. Like you said, you have six bedrooms and only take up one."
"Did you forget, I've only known you two for three days. I got four demons hanging out with me now, so they can have the rooms," I said.
"Even if you really did, that's still only five rooms being occupied, me and V can share the last one," Jhope smiled at me as if he found a loophole.
I sighed, "The Vatican made my house this big so that it could work as a sanctuary for people who can't stay at their homes due to demon infestations. They need those rooms, not you."
"Pleaseeeeeeee," they both begged together, their hands clasped together as if they were praying to the lord for a bit of crumbs.
I groaned, "Fine. But you're being put on a lease so I can kick your asses out if you get tiring. Every rule I tell you in this house MUST be followed, understand?"
They nodded as they kept staring at me with puppy dog eyes.
"Follow me boys," I said, preceding to walk down a small hallway. We strolled past my office and to the end of the hallway where a large wooden pair of doors stood. It had chains wrapping across both sides and a large lock covering the center.
"Why isn't there a handle?" Taehyung asked standing behind me.
I grabbed the key out of my pocket and began fiddling with the lock.
"It keeps things from getting in, as well as getting out," I muttered.
I didn't have to look back to know they were confused.
"These next few rules I'm going to tell you are the most important if you're in this house.
Number one, don't ever go in this room unless I tell you to.
Number two, When you are allowed inside, don't touch ANYTHING.
Number three, nothing leaves this room. If it does, I will kill you both before the demons do.
Number four and beyond. Don't make jokes in this room, don't taunt anything in this room, don't talk to anything in this room, don't let your emotions attach to any item in this room. Don't. Mess. With. This. Room. I'm showing it to you now so you know what's in it. After that, the only time we come in is to place something inside it, understand?"I turned back to them as I finally got the lock unlocked.
They looked at me terrified, but both gave a small whisper of an "I understand."
I let the chains fall to the sides. I gave a very light push and the two doors slowly creaked open. I held the doors open and let the two go in front of me. As I walked in I shut them both quickly.
"What is all this stuff?" Jhope asked in awe.
I watched them both as they looked around the room, glancing at the various items scattered among the shelves against the walls. There were a few glass cases throughout the room which held items, as well as various chests and lock boxes scattered on the ground.
I needed to explain this in a way they'd understand.
"Listen to me carefully. These are all possessed items. It doesn't matter how small or how big, they either held a demon or continue to hold one. The church sends out someone to bless this room a few times a month. That keeps it protected. Remember how I told you that exorcisms aren't always the best answer? Sometimes you can get lucky and bind the demons to these items instead. Most times demons will put themselves into these items until they are strong enough to attach to a living thing. If we can catch them while they're in that stage, or somehow send them back to that stage, we can either lock them in the item in this room, or exorcise them out of the object. However, if any item leaves this room with a demon attached to it, than that item is no longer protected by the blessing and the demon can get out of it just as easy.""Woah, so is this like all those horror movies where the investigators keeps their ghost hunting trophies in a room? Like they get an item from every case and put it in there?" Taehyung asked, a bit excited.
"Oh yeah, I've seen that in a few movies too!" Jhope agreed enthusiastically, most likely trying to think of a title off the top of his head.
"Yes. This is like those stupid movies. Except none of these items are complete bullshit party toys that we lay around to make a quick buck," I said rolling my eyes.
"Hey, just because the movies are inaccurate doesn't make them bad," Hoseok defended himself.
"Yes, because it's movies like that which cost us our credibility. Every-time we say we're a paranormal investigator, or a "psychic", people think we're just a part of one of those bullshit ghost hunting shows you watch on TV. Horror movies are stupid, and inaccuracies cause problems. Therefore, please do not compare uneducated horror movies to the items you see here," I said, trying my very best to get the point into their thick skulls.
I don't know. I thought that movie where the demon brutally murders that team of paranormal investigators was both interesting and informative.
"Let's go, before he manages to get himself into this room," I said.
"Who?" Taehyung asked.
"Him," I tapped my head with my finger. They both understood. I placed my foot under the door frame and got the door open. After the two left the room, I went into the hallway with them. I placed my put under the door to force it shut, then replaced the chains exactly where they were and used the lock to lock them in place. I just hoped it was enough to keep a monster like him away.
