Chapter 27

*****Dinah's POV*****

I was shocked when Normani hung up. I was frozen and literally just dropped my phone dramatically like in the movies. "Baby?" I heard Lauren say from behind me, but I couldn't even turn around. I just collapsed to my knees and started crying, and I felt Lauren wrap her arms around me. I just cried into her neck, feeling my heart ache. She was trying to calm me down, but she couldn't. The tears would not stop flowing no matter what.

"Shh, Dinah. It's okay baby girl" she said, holding me closer to her. "She hates me Lo". "Who baby?" She asked, moving my back to look me in the eyes. "Normani, she hates me" I whimpered, and the tears started to flow again. "She could never hate you, she's like your sister". When Lauren said that, I broke down even further. Knowing the fact that I lost my sister was even worst.

"C'mon baby" Lauren said, and then lifted me swiftly into her arms. I had no idea she was that strong. I wrapped my arms around her neck and put my face into her shoulder, still crying. "Shh, Dinah. It's gonna be okay" she said, walking me around the house in circles with no particular destination. I felt myself start to calm down a little, enjoying the feeling of being in her arms. When I was calm and to the point of only sniffling, Lauren sat down with me in her lap and I knew she wanted to talk.

She held my hand, rubbing her thumbs over my knuckles. "Hey baby, what happened?" she asked. "I called Mani and she....she just went off on me" I said, but I was interrupted by my tears. Lauren held me closer to her, "What did she say?" "She told me that she never had anytime to herself anymore because she was always with me. And that I was stupid and couldn't do anything for myself. And that she was done. She just quit, Lauren". "What do you mean she quit?" Lauren asked. "She quit as my manager and as my best friend" I said, and I felt the tears fall again. "Oh baby, I'm so sorry" she said, rubbing my back, but nothing could really help me right now.

I needed my best friend back.

*****Normani's POV*****

I was currently sitting on my plane back to my hometown of Houston, Texas. It would be nice to go back and visit home, I just wish that the current situation didn't need to occur for me to find my way back home. But hey, sometimes shit happens. And I think I just need to get away from it all.

I decided that I should probably text someone to pick me up when I arrive, considering this was all unannounced. I didn't want my mom and dad to think I was moving back in...and I haven't talked to my old friends in so long. I really had nowhere to go. I just sighed and thought to myself, "I'll figure something out later". I then put on my headphones and closed my eyes.

And just as I was about to fall asleep, I got a text. And it was from Lauren. "Where are you?! I wanna talk and make sure you're okay". How could Lauren be so nice to me after the things I've said to her girlfriend. I was being a total bitch to dinah, yet she wants to make sure I'm okay. Wow, she's a really good person. I was contemplating whether or not to respond, and I decided against it. I need some space. From work. From Arin. From New York. And from Dinah.

Was that so wrong?

******Lauren's POV******

I was currently stroking Dinah's hair, her head resting gently in my lap. She was finally able to fall asleep after so much crying. I didn't think she would ever stop, but I'm so glad she did. I hated seeing my baby girl so upset. Something had to be up with Mani, because she would never say anything to hurt Dinah. Like, ever. Maybe I should text her.

"Where are you?! I wanna talk and make sure you're okay" I sent, but got no reply. I kept on waiting and waiting, but she still sent nothing. I just gave up and decided to call her cell, and I had the exact same result. I ended up calling her and Arin's apartment phone. "Hello?" I heard a deep voice say. "Hey Arin, where's Normani?" I asked, and I heard him sniffle on the other line. "I don't know, I thought she would be over there. Please tell her that I'm sorry and that she needs to come home". "What do you mean Arin?" I questioned, "What did you do?"

The other end of the line went silent, all except for Arin's breathing. "Answer me Arin!" I yelled. "I made a mistake Lauren, she needs to come home. I'm so worried about her". I took a deep breath, trying to process what he had just told me. If I heard him correctly, I'm about to flip. "Okay Lauren" I said in my head, "Let him talk". "Hello?" I heard Arin question from the other line. "Arin, you have five minutes to get your ass over here. If you're not here in that time, I will not hesitate to shoot your ass in the leg". I heard her gulp on the line, "I'm already in the car". "Good" I said, and then hung up.

I stood up and started to pace back and forth, running my fingers through my hair. I do this any time I am irritated of frustrated, but right now I was a great combination of both. I still don't know what happened, but I know I'm gonna have to kick someone's ass if it comes to that. I looked over towards the couch and saw Dinah peacefully laying there, her eyes still so puffy. Even in a fit of rage, she could calm me down.

I walked over and kneeled down next to her, and put a hand in her hair. She leaned into my hand a little, and it made me smile. "I'll get her back for you dinah. Don't worry about anything" I whispered. And then there was a knock on the door, and I knew it was Arin.

"here goes nothing".
