Chapter 36

*****Lauren's POV*****

I looked at Normani and I just didn't know what to tell her. "Oh nothing much, we just made out and you had a heart attack" I thought in my head. Yep, definitely couldn't tell her. Especially not while she was in the hospital. "I went to the club where I found you all drugged up, and then I took you back to my hotel" I stated plainly, trying not to get into any more details. "You're not telling me something Lauren. What happened in that hotel room?" she asked. I just let my head hang to the ground, "Tell me Lauren!"

I cringed at her voice, and I decided not to get her worked up again. Last time I did that, she passed out. "Normani, we did something that was unforgivable" I said, feeling tears stinging my eyes. "What happened Lauren?" she asked, sounding more nervous than mad. I looked up at her, "We made-out in that hotel room Normani, and we almost didn't stop there". "We..........we didn't. Please tell me we didn't"  she pleaded. I nodded no, "We stopped before we did". She sighed in relief, "Thank god".

I couldn't help but still cry at the thought of what could've happened that night. "C'mere Lo" Normani said, and I moved over to the bed". I sat on the edge and she hugged me, "It' okay, she'll forgive us".I nodded no and cried hard, "No Normani! She won't forgive me! I messed". "Lauren, we were drun-" I cut her off yelling."No! You were drunk! I was sober the entire time!" I screamed. I was such an idiot. Dinah was the best thing that ever happened to me, but I cheated on her. I was a terrible person. How was I gonna tell Dinah?

"Lauren, this isn't your fault alone. She'll figure you. We all make mistakes" Normani said, holding me while I cried. "I messed up so bad though. I was sober and was going to take advantage of you. I was going to cheat o-" Normani cut me off. "But you didn't. You could have, but you didn't. You didn't have sex with me and you didn't cheat" she said. "But I kissed you.....more than a kiss. We made out. And I let it happen" I said, breaking down.  "Shh" Normani said, "It's gonna be okay". She held me while I cried, running her fingers through my hair. When I was calm, we were able to talk again.

"What am I gonna tell her? I love her so much so I have to tell her" I sniffled. "You have to tell her the truth, and I'll sit right there with you" Normani said, holding my hand. "What about you Normani?" I asked, and she looked lost. "How are you going to tell Arin?" I asked. "We're done, Arin and I are not together anymore. He brought me down. I put my heart and soul into him and he put me on the street. He obviously doesn't love me" she frowned. Poor girl. 

"Mani.... I know how you don't hate him like you say you do" I said. "I do, I mean everything I said!" she started to get loud. "Relax Mani, let's just stay calm and talk about this" I said. rubbing my thumb over her knuckles. "I know you're upset and hurt and angry, and you feel like everything you knew was a lie" I said. I remember when this happened to me and Keaton, but he never really ever loved me. I cried forever and never thought I would stop crying, but that's because he never really cared about me. Now Arin, Arin loved this girl. Anyone could see it.

"Arin loves you, but he let his emotions get the best of him. He should've just talked to you and everything would've been fine" I said honestly. She mumbled in agreement, saying "But he screwed that up". "Hey, it's like you said Normani. Everybody makes mistakes, we're only human. I mean, Arin let go of the best thing that ever happened to him. And I cheated on the best thing that's ever happened to me". Normani smiled sadly at me, "She'll understand, cause she loves you". "I just don't know when to tell her".

*****Dinah's POV*****

I picked up my phone and clicked Lauren's number, listening to the rings. It rung two times, and then I heard her answer with a "Hello?" from the other end. "Baby! How's everything going? Are you and manibear okay?" I asked, getting straight to the point. "I'm fine, and as for Normani....why don't you ask her yourself". I hear some shuffling on the phone, and then I smiled when I heard an all too familiar voice respond.

"Hey Dinah, I'm so so-" I cut her off by screaming happily. "I'm so glad you're okay, I thought I lost you Normani. I can't lose my big sis so soon, I need you" I said, smiling at the thought of her still alive. "I'm alive and well.....at least, I think so. I need to get myself checked before I can come home. But when I do....wanna marathon some 'Criminal Minds' with me?" She asked, making me chuckle. "Of course, but don't rush home if you're not ready. You need to heal properly, and I'll be waiting for you when you get back. Hey Normani, someone wants to talk to you". I gave the phone to Arin before she could hang up. I hope all goes well.

*****Arin's POV*****

"Ummm, Hello?" she said into the phone. "Hi....." I said, waiting to here her reaction. "I'm sorry, I don't know what you want me to say" she said, and I could hear her voice quiver a little. "Hey hey, it's okay mani. You don't have to say anything. I just want you to listen. I wanna try and fix things from the way we left them". I heard her mumble a quiet "okay" into the phone, and I was ecstatic. I did not exspect her to stay on the phone with me this long.

"I wanna say that I ruined us. What happened between us was me being immature and not knowing how to handle my feelings. I do dumb things when I'm sad and  angry. I did it when I lost my mom, and now I did it with you. I want to apologize for me every making you feel unwanted or unappreciated. I love you, and I want you to know that. When you get home Normani, I want to fix what happened between us. I will take care of your every need".

I signalled for Dinah to start strumming, and I started to sing when she did:

When I finished, I heard her crying and laughing on the other end. "So....do you wanna try this again?" She was just laughing cutely on the other line, and I felt confident in what she would say. When she finished laughing, she was down to a small chuckle. "Arin?" she called. "Yes Normani?" I said hopefully. 

"Did you really thing that would work?"
