Blue
My lungs are on fire. Everything in me screams for air. Salt burns my eyes, and everything's blue, but for the bubbles escaping my mouth and swimming to the surface. My arms are everywhere, frantic for something to grab onto and get my head above the water. My head pounds louder than my racing heart, and my throat tightens as desperation for a gulp of air makes me lightheaded.
And time stops. Everything's quiet. Nothing moves in the sapphire surrounding me. I'm at peace. It's all over, now.
I hear the waves before I feel them crash against me, knocking the breath out of me, spiraling my vision. A flash of light blinds me before I'm slammed against, and torn apart by rocks, sharper than ever.
