what would life be like if Pam had married Ram and Jim had married Karen?
30 years later...
just a short one today. I'm tired.

"So, Pam," Jim handed her a scotch, "How has a life with Roy been?"

Pam smiled a cracked smile. "Good." She said, voice wavering. "Excellent, in fact...and...and Karen?"

Jim nodded, sipping his whiskey. "Same here," he said, pressing on a fae smile too. Over the years, Jim Halpert had hardly changed. His hair had grown white, and he had a few more wrinkles, but besides this, he was the same old lovable loser.

Pam Anderson hadn't really changed either, although she had grey hair and more wrinkles. "Do you have any kids?" She asked.

He nodded. "Jessica and Amelia Halpert. And you?"

"Just a son, Roy Jr." She responded, swirling her drink around. "He's a nasty little buggar. Definitely Roy's son."

"Yeah. I don't like my kids either. Jessica's a bitch and Amelia is just plain annoying sometimes. Definitely Karen's kids."

They both chuckled sadly.

There was a long silence- between them, and in the bar, too.

"I could have grown old with you." Pam finally said, staring into his still beautiful eyes.

"Could have?" Jim questioned. "There's still time. Let's run away. You and Me. Just us." He ran a hand through her hair. Pam smiled and bowed her head. "It's too late now."

"It's never too late for love, Pam Beesly." He whispered, voice cracking.

"I'm sorry." A tear slid down her cheek. "I have to go." She put her glass down and made her way to the exit.

"Pam, wait!" Jim frantically called.

She turned to look at him one more time. "Yes?"

"You...You never gave up on me, did you?" He asked, heart thumping in his ears.

Pam smiled and slowly shook her head. "Never. Never ever."

"I love you, Pamela Morgan Beesly."

"I love you too, James Duncan Halpert."

And with that, Pam swept away, and they never saw each other ever again.
