set in season 5 roughly, also Pam finds out about her pregnancy earlier x

"Do I look alright?"

"For the last time, Jim, you look extremely handsome," Pam laughed, dragging a hairbrush through her natural curls. "You've asked me that 6 times now..." He sighed when she said this, putting on his shoes. "Yeah, well, I want to make a good impression, don't I? This is technically the first time I'm meeting your mom, since I didn't get to talk to her when she came into the office before," he ran a hand through his hair.

She smiled at him. "You don't have to feel nervous, my love." Pam put down her brush and slid a random bracelet onto her slim wrist and looked him in the eye. "She's gonna love you- not as much as I love you, of course," Pam leaned up and kissed him gently, quickly putting him at ease. A moment later, he smiled too. "Are you sure?"

"Absolutely. Uh, between you and me, I'm not sure she liked Roy that much. Or maybe she did...I think she did, but, uh, I think she hated spending the night at our place. All she could hear from the couch was us fighting constantly, and I felt bad about putting her in that situation. Always..." she rubbed her bare arm, which was covered with goosebumps. Her eyes fell to the shiny jewelry on her left ring finger, making her grin slightly.

He smiled and picked up her cardigan before handing it to her. "Well, you don't have to worry about that anymore, do you?" She took it from him whilst beaming gratefully. "I guess not." She slipped it on, then took his large hand. "Ready to go?"

"You'd better believe it, baby," they shared a grin then headed out the door.

"Pam! Oh my Gosh!" Helene Beesly smiled widely at her daughter and pulled her into a tight embrace. "Hey Mom!" Pam gushed with a grin, "I've missed you so much."

"You too, sweetie. It's been too long," she pulled back and her gaze turned to Pam's fiancee, who was stood beside her with a smile. "Oh, is this the famous Jim Halpert? Well! It's nice to finally meet you, Jim. Pam has said a lot about you over the years, you know. I'm so glad you're finally dating, she speaks ever so highly of you."

"Oh, does she now?" He pretended to chuckle at Pam on the outside, but on the inside, he was even more in love with her than before, if that was even possible. He had spoken about Pam a lot to his family too, primarily his sister, since she understood best. As he spoke, Pam went painfully red. "M-Mom!" She scowled. "I have not."

"Trust me, honey. You've spoken a lot more about him than you think." Helene smirked slightly, then ushered the couple into the restaurant. "Come on, let's go inside before it starts raining."

The trio went inside, taking in the nice ambiance of the Italian restaurant. Helene observed Jim and Pam bicker jokingly as they went to their reserved table, with Pam lavishly showering him with sarcastic comments and Jim firing back with his usual witticisms. But Helene also noticed the way Jim would squeeze her hand whenever she would say something endearing, and the way she beamed up at him like he was the embodiment of perfection. She could also see that their short wranglings were mere jokes, unlike every time Roy and Pam would 'joke about'. Helene found herself wishing she could have something like this with her own husband, though now was not the time to think about her marital issues.

'I'm so proud of Pam, all grown up with her own fiancee. He's pretty good-looking, actually. He seems lovely. He must care about her a lot if he's waited this long just to be with her. He had to watch her with Roy for...what, 3 years? Probably more than that. She seems to flourish when she's with him. Not even I can get her to do that, most of the time- nor her father, or Roy. I wonder what's so special about Jim besides his looks and stuff? Maybe I'll find out... that'd be nice.'
