Saturday came and I was currently at Carson's apartment. I have been here since morning just hanging out with him and now I was sitting on his bed watching him as he got ready for his fighting match. It was now thirty minutes passed one but he was getting ready early because he was going to meet up with his friends before they leave for the fighting arena.
As Carson put his shirt on, he looked at me. "Would you be here when I get back?" He asked.
I shook my head. "I have to get back to the dorms to get ready." I reminded him.
"Oh, the charity event is today right?" He asked and I nodded. "I'm really sorry that I won't be able to go with you." He added regretfully.
I stood up from the bed and walked over to him and fixed his shirt collar. "Carson, it's okay. I know you would go if you could. Don't worry about it." I said honestly.
Carson smiled at me, but my mind wasn't even on the charity event right now. Right now, my mind was on him and his fight. I was really worried about him and I know for sure that my mind would be on him all night, wondering if he is okay. I had never liked the idea of him fighting. It scares me a lot.
Carson, seeing the worried look on my face, wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer to him. "Hey, what's wrong?"
I sighed and looked down at my hands nervously. "I'm just worried about you. I don't like the idea of you fighting that guy. I don't want him to hurt you. My mind is going to be on you all night."
"I'm going to be okay, don't worry." He assured me. When I didn't respond, he used his fingers to lift my chin. When my eyes met his, he repeated. "I'm going to be okay."
Taking a deep sigh to shake my nerves, I nodded. I had to be positive and optimistic. "Okay." I tried for a smile. Carson then leaned towards me and gave me a light kiss. When we pulled away, I said. "Be careful okay?"
"I will." He stepped away from me but held on to my hand. He took up his bag that was on the floor and we walked from his bedroom to the living room. When we were in the living room, he turned to face me. "Do you want a ride to your dorm?"
"No. The event starts at four. I'm going to stay here for a while before I leave to get ready." I told him and he nodded. He then wrapped his arms around me in a hug and kissed my hair. When he pulled away, he smiled at me. "I'll call you when I get home."
"I'll wait up," I said and he stepped away from me and walked to the front door. When he opened his apartment door, I called out to him. "Hey." He turned to face me again. "Beat his ass, babe." I said smiling at him.
Carson's face broke out into a grin and he nodded at me. "I will." He then went through the door and closed it behind him.
••••••
The charity event had ended at seven o'clock and now we were having our party to celebrate our success and have a good time after our hard work.
Everything was sold off, everyone who supported us had left and the booths were cleared. The room was now turned into a ballroom and everyone was having a good time. It was a formal ball, so we all dressed formally and the room was decorated elegantly.
Jasmine and I were currently standing with a few of our sorority sisters talking. I looked at the time and realized that it was twenty minutes to eight. Carson's match was scheduled to start at eight o'clock. Wanting to hear his voice before he went into the ring, I decided to call him.
I told Jasmine that I would be back and I left the hall to go outside where it was quieter. When I was standing outside near the front door, I retrieved my phone from my purse and dialled Carson's number.
"Hey, babe." Carson said when he picked up.
"Hi, I know that you'll soon go into the ring, so I wanted to wish you good luck again," I replied.
"Thanks. You know I wouldn't have gone on without my good luck charm." He replied and I could imagine his smile. However, it was a struggle trying to hear him with the loud noise on his end. The place sounded like it was packed.
I smiled at what he said. "You've got this, babe." I replied confidently. "I'm sending a kiss your way," I added as I blew him a kiss.
"Received." He said, but the loud noise in the background made it barely audible.
"Okay, good luck again. I love you."
"I love you too." He said and I ended the call. I took a deep sigh to calm my jangled nerves and replaced my phone in my purse.
"Are you okay? Why are you out here by yourself?" I heard a voice asked. I looked up to see Travis approaching the front door of the assembly hall.
"Hey, Travis. I'm alright. I just stepped out a bit to make a phone call."
"That's cool." He said when he finally reached me. "By the way, you look lovely tonight."
"Thank you," I replied.
He studied me for a second. "Are you sure you're okay? You look a little tense."
"I'm fine. I'm just a little tired. This week has been tiring getting ready for the event." I replied.
He smiled. "You should've stopped by our booth, we were giving massages. Anytime you want a massage, I can give you one. I'm really good at it."
"No, that's okay. Thank you though." I said declining his offer.
"Okay, but if you change your mind, the offer is still open." He said. We were quiet for a while and then he added. "Come on, let's go inside." We both walked towards the door and entered the ballroom again. I was scanning the room, looking for Jasmine, when Travis spoke again. "I noticed you were alone all night. Where's your plus one?"
"He couldn't make it tonight," I answered. It seemed as if he was about to say something, but changed his mind at the last minute. I turned from him again and continued to search the room. Finally, I spotted Jasmine at the snack table. I turned back to Travis. "I'm going over there to Jasmine. It was nice talking to you."
"Yeah, you too." He said and I walked over to the snack table where Jasmine was.
