"Kayla, how did you think you did on the test?" One of my classmates asked.
It was half an hour after we did the test and myself and three of my classmates were currently sitting under a huge tree on board benches in front of the campus. The four of us were study buddies and would study for every test together. Aside from studying together, we don't hang out as much though.
I turned to Sean, the one who had asked me the question. He was the only guy in the group. "It was okay. I was freaking out for nothing." I admitted.
"Me too." Replied Monica. "It was actually easy."
"Can we not talk about this?" Lilly put in. "I don't think I did so well."
I turned my attention to Lilly. "Why would you say that?"
Lilly sighed. "I don't know. It was just difficult." She groaned loudly. "That test was giving me a major headache."
I laughed at her reaction. Lilly is a smart girl and she took an interest in her studies. I can't really imagine her failing a test. As always she freaks out after a test and does well in the end. "I'm sure you did well."
"That's easy for you to say. You always do well in all your tests." She replied.
"That's my girl." I heard a voice say behind me. I knew that voice anywhere. I felt my heart leap as I spuned around. Standing behind me was Carson, a smile on his face.
"Carson," I said, and without a second thought, I jumped up from my seat and ran to him. When I reached him, I flung my arms around him and hugged him tight. I closed my eyes and breathed in his familiar scent and I instantly felt relaxed. I felt his chest rumble as he chuckled and hugged me tight as well.
I forgot where I was and everyone around me as I remained in his embrace. I had missed him so much and now he was here. He wasn't supposed to be here until next week, but here he was. I didn't care though. I was home and nothing else mattered.
Finally, Carson pulled away, but he still held on to me tightly. Before I could say anything, he crashed his lips on mine. I sighed when his lips touched mine and I returned the kiss with fervour.
After a minute that felt like an hour, I heard a throat being cleared behind me. Finally being aware of my surroundings, I pulled away from Carson and turned around. Even though we pulled apart, Carson's hands never left my waist. My cheeks were red as I blushed in embarrassment. My friends were looking at us with grins and smirks on their faces.
I smiled at them. "Sorry guys. This is Carson, my boyfriend." I said indicating Carson. "Carson, these are my friends; Monica, Lilly and Sean." They all wave when I called their name.
"Hi, nice to meet you," Carson said. "Do you mind if I borrow her?"
"No, not at all," Monica spoke up, waving us away with her hands.
I waved back as Carson took my hand in his and led us across campus. We were just walking, hand in hand, in silence for a while. There was no need to say anything; at that moment we were just enjoying each others' company.
When we reach the other end of the campus, I stopped walking as a thought resurfaced my mind. I hit him lightly on his shoulder. "Why didn't you tell me you were coming today?"
Carson smiled slyly. "Because I wanted to see that look on your face and let me tell you, I don't regret it at all." He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer.
"You're evil." I pouted playfully.
"I know," he said, the teasing smile never leaving his lips. "Anything to surprise my girl and see her face lights up."
"If you think playing sweet is going to get you off the hook, you are so wrong, buddy," I said patting his cheek playfully. Of course, I was only teasing him and he knew it. I didn't care that he didn't tell me, I'm just glad he's here and I'm glad he surprised me. "So, when did you get here?"
"Two hours ago. I came here right from the airport." He replied. "I couldn't wait to see you."
I didn't say anything and he didn't say anything more either. We just stood there looking at each other as if afraid that the other would disappear.
"Do you have any more class for the day?" He asked after a long while.
"Yes," I said while looking at my watch. "Oh crap! I have class in five minutes. Sorry, I have to go now."
Carson pouted his lips that always made him look cute. "That sucks." He then added. "Okay go before you're late." But he still held on to me.
I couldn't help it, I giggled. "Carson, you're still holding onto me."
"Am I?" He teased.
"Yes, and you know it."
"I do?" He continued teasing.
"Carson!" I said while slapping his arm playfully.
He laughed. "Okay fine." He reluctantly let me go. "I wish you could stay here with me. I've been dreaming of this day since I left."
I smiled once again. "Me too."
He then pulled me in his arms once more and kissed me on the lips lightly. When he pulled away, he asked. "You're coming to my apartment later, right?"
"Of course," I replied.
"I'll be waiting."
"Bye." I blew him a kiss as I ran across the field to get to class on time.
