Kayla's POV

"I can't believe the break is up already," Jasmine said sighing heavily. It was currently Sunday night and she was on her bed laying on her stomach. Her head was rested on her folded arm and her foot was in the air. I was sitting on my bed with my back against the wall.

"I can't believe either," I replied. The week flew by really fast and now we were scheduled to go back to classes tomorrow.

Jasmine and I were quiet for a while before she said. "At least we have the sorority's charity event and ball to look forward to."

"Oh yeah, I forgot about that. It's this Saturday, right?"

"Yes. I'm actually looking forward to it. I hope we raise more funds than last year."

"Me too." I replied, nodding my head in agreement. Every year, all the sororities would come together and put on a charity event, where we would sell different things or offer services to raise money for charity. It was a very big event where we would have a large turnout of people who gave us their full support. Every year, we raise more money than the previous year. Well, I was told because this was going to be my second charity event. The money we made was then brought to different charity organizations.

This year our sorority will bake cakes and pies to sell. I was really happy that Jasmine and I were in the same sorority and will be at our booth together with our other members. Each sorority will have its booth set up. At the end of the sales, a formal dance is always kept in the evening for the sorority members. It's a really amazing event that I look forward to.

"Eli won't be able to make it, but he's going to support us." Jasmine continued. "Unfortunately, I won't have a date for the evening."

I laughed. "Don't worry, we both won't have a date," I said before adding jokingly. "So, you can be my date then."

Jasmine looked up at me. "What about Carson? Won't he be there?"

I shook my head. "No, he has his fighting match that day." I reminded her.

"Oh, I didn't remember about that." She replied. I had filled her in about Carson's upcoming fight match with Oliver and I also brought her up to date about Oliver's years-long grudge he has on Carson.

Carson had originally planned to attend and support our charity event, but plans had to change because of his match on that day. Even though I wanted him there, I honestly, wasn't upset about it because I understand.

"Yeah and since we both won't have a date, we can be each other's dates," I said smiling teasingly.

Jasmine grinned at me and gushed. "I'm honoured to be your date. You have a deal." She said and winked. I laughed at that.

The following day, I was in lecture taking off notes into my notebook when Monica, who sat beside me, called for my attention.

"Hey Kayla, Travis asked me if he can join our study group. Is it okay with you if he joins?"

I turned to face her. "I don't have a problem with that. If the other guys are okay with it, he can study with us."

Monica nodded her head. "I already asked Lilly and Sean and they're okay with him joining as well." She then smiled and added. "Well, Lilly said that the more people the better and Sean responded that he's his sorority brother and no brother should get left behind. You know how dramatic Sean can be?"

I laughed quietly, so as not to disturb the rest of the class. "Yes, I know."

"He also said that they're on the same block at their dorm, so they'll talk sometimes and he's cool."

"That's good then. So have you given him an answer?"

"No, not yet. I wanted to ask all of you first." She then looked to the front of the lecture hall where Travis was sitting and shrugged. "He seems like a nice guy and he's very friendly, but I did not want to tell him yes as yet until I included you and the others in the decision." She explained and I nodded my head in understanding. "I'm going to take his number later and add him to the group chat."

"Okay," I replied and Monica turned back around to her notebook and continued to take her notes.

After a while, Monica looked towards the front of the class where the lecturer was sitting at her desk before she turned back to me again and asked."By the way, what is your sorority doing for the event on Saturday?"

I closed my notebook and rest my pen on the table as I was done copying the notes from the board. "We are going to sell cakes and pies this year. What about your sorority?"

"We're selling used books."

"Nice." I smiled. "I'll make sure I stop by your booth and get a few."

She smiled knowing that I wouldn't give up an opportunity to buy reading books. Before Monica could say anything else, the teacher stood up from her seat and addressed us. She let us know that class was finished and that as soon as we copied the notes in our notebooks, we could leave. The teacher then took up her things and left the lecture hall.

Monica closed her notebook and sighed. "Biochem is a pain." She said and I laughed nodding my head in agreement. "When did Mrs. Bryan said we were getting a test?"

"Next week," I responded.

"Okay then. We need to study for this because I don't really understand this topic." She sighed in frustration.

Before I said anything, Sean, who was sitting a few rows behind us, walked by us. "Are we studying for this test today?" He asked.

"I'm going on the road right now, so I can't stay." Monica expressed disappointedly.

"It's okay. We're not going to study without you. We can study tomorrow." I suggested and Monica and Sean agreed.

Monica stood up from her seat. "Bye guys, I have to hurry before the store closes. I'll see you tomorrow." She said to both Sean and I. She then took up her bag and left the class.

Sean bid me goodbye as well and left behind Monica. I stood up from my seat and searched the lecture room to see if I spotted Lilly. I noticed that she was sitting in the corner of the room, putting her notebook into her bag. I took up my bag and walked towards her.

"Hey, we won't be studying today, okay." I said when I reached her.

She looked up at me. "Okay." She said, then focused her attention back on her books.

The way she responded to me, made me look at her curiously. "Is everything alright?"

"I'm fine." She replied, but the way she said it made me think otherwise.

Deciding not to push it, I turned to walk away. "Alright then, I'll see you tomorrow."

She didn't say anything to me, so I walked away leaving her. I was really confused about how she was acting. She has never really talked to me much, only when we were studying, but that was just Lilly so I was okay with it. We all like to study with her because she was really smart and took her work seriously.

However, I've never seen her so distant with me before. It was weird. Brushing Lilly's weird behaviour aside, I left the classroom and walked to my dorm.
