Kaname and I went to the Japanese restaurant across my company building. After being ushered to our table and taking our orders, the female wait staff left us alone but promised to come back with our food after ten minutes. The restaurant had booth seating and we were in the far corner of the establishment, giving us the most privacy. Silence pervaded as soon as she left, I didn't say anything and so did the stunning man opposite me. I wasn't annoyed anymore but that didn't mean I have forgiven him for his thoughtlessness earlier.

"I apologize for going overboard with my teasing earlier," Kaname said, I knew he'd be the first to crack. He knows he's the one at fault this time.

"I'm glad you realize that," I replied before taking a sip of water. "Anata, you should learn to tone it down because frankly, it can get really annoying sometimes. Yes, I know you want me and I feel the same way but there's a time and place for that. You can't always turn an innocent conversation into something... Something carnal."

"I really was just teasing," he repeated apologetically. "I'll consider the time and place first next time."

I didn't say anything and just nodded my head.

"Hina, I'm really sorry," he stood up from his seat and sat beside me to place both of my hands on his cheeks. With pleading eyes, he added, "I really won't do it again."

"Alright," I heard myself say after a while. He was using his beautiful eyes to his advantage and I had zero fighting chance against them.

He visibly relaxed and gave me a grateful hug as well as a gentle kiss on the forehead. Minutes later our food was served. Kaname remained seated beside me and ate his curry happily. I was in the mood for something cold, creamy, and sweet so we went to the artisanal gelateria at the corner of the street afterwards. It was packed with people but since it was almost one in the afternoon, the line wasn't that long. As soon as we entered the shop, Kaname attracted so much attention from both sexes. Aside from his odd eyes, his presence was what made people notice him. Once a shogun, always a shogun I guess.

Interestingly, he mistook people's interest in him for attention directed at me. He and I queued with one of his arms wrapped possessively around my waist and he'd occasionally cast a contemptuous glare at the men he would catch stealing glances at 'me.' It was funny, cute, and flattering at the same time. When it was our turn, I ordered the cheesecake gelato and my other favorite, the Belgian chocolate.

"Try this one first," I scooped up a heaping spoonful of the cheesecake gelato and waited for Kaname to open his mouth to taste it. When his odd eyes shone and his lips curled up into a satisfied smile, I giggled.

"What was that?" he asked while curiously pointing at the frozen dessert.

"Gelato," I replied before explaining, as best as I could, what it was and how it was made. He listened intently as if I was telling him life's greatest secret. When I finished, I took the Belgian chocolate one and gave him the honor of tasting it first once more.

"This one reminds me of you," he said before grabbing the cup and small spoon in my hands to return the favor.

I opened my mouth to savor the smooth and slightly bitter cream in my mouth. When it was all gone, I asked, "What do you mean?"

"If you were food, you'd be this one. It's sweet but not sickly sweet. The hint of bitterness it has is similar to how feisty you can get when the situation calls for it. Its smoothness is similar to how easy it is to be with you. Lastly, one taste and it brought me a sense of euphoria. It reminded me of when I first met you," he answered as he fed me more.

"A gelato, huh?" I smirked.

"Yes," he smiled and reached out to run his fingers through my hair.

Kaname fed me at least than half of the chocolate dessert, when it was almost gone I told him he could have the rest as well the cheesecake one. He didn't pretend to disagree and finished everything at lightning speed.

I glanced at my watch and saw that it was almost time to end our lunch date. We walked back to my workplace sharing my folding umbrella. Because we had very little time left, I didn't ask him to accompany me inside. I helped him flag a taxi and, after giving him a farewell kiss, I went inside.

The entire seventeenth floor was a sea of curious gazes and unspoken questions. As if I didn't notice anything, I walked past cubicles and personal offices with open blinds. As expected, Anne was waiting for me outside my office door with an impatient expression. It only brightened when she saw me walking towards her.

"Miss, you're back!" she exclaimed gleefully.

I gave her a sideways look and opened the door. Once inside, I opened the small drawer containing my toiletries. I took the tan faux leather makeup bag then went to the ladies' room to freshen up. My nosy secretary followed me even if she clearly had no business being there. Aside from the two of us, Marie from the executive office and two clerks from accounting were busy reapplying their makeup.

"So, Miss, how was your lunch? Where did you eat?" Anne couldn't contain her curiosity anymore and asked.

"Oh, just somewhere nearby," I answered then started brushing my teeth. Through the huge wall mirror before us, I could see the three other women take their time to obviously eavesdrop.

Anne nodded as if I just told her something vital. "Is... Is Superman picking you up later as well?"

My mouth was still full of foam from the toothpaste so I just shook my head to respond to her. My negative answer caused all four women to be visibly disappointed. I rinsed my mouth then proceeded with cleaning my face with a wet wipe.

As if seeing the ring on my left finger for the first time, Anne suddenly blurted out, "Oh my gosh, is that a wedding band?!"

I gave my ring a quick glance and said unequivocally, "Yes, I married Superman in Japan."

My revelation caused quite a reaction: I heard the door of one of the stalls behind me slam open, revealing another eavesdropper. Meanwhile, Marie, Anne, and the women from accounting were looking at me with their mouths hanging open in shock.
