TROUBLEMAKER
Guidance Counselor: "We're very worried about Freya."
I could hear them through the door. The least they could do was not shout so everyone in the hallway could hear.
Principle: "Freya has been skipping classes all week and walking out. It's a very concerning matter."
I'm sure it is.
Guidance Counselor: "I'd like to set up sessions every week for Freya so that she can come in and talk with me. Perhaps once a week during lunch. I don't mind if she eats in my office."
People were now giving me weird looks as they walked down the hall. I kind of would like to say, "What the hell are you looking at?" But that would require effort and I just don't have that.
Principle: "If it's not too much trouble I'd like to personally escort her to the rest of her classes, just too make sure everything runs smoothly. I've heard some teachers are having issues with her during class. Apparently she's a little class clown."
As if.
My parents came out a few minutes later, agreeing to everything. They left soon after they each gave me a lecture. Then I had the honor of letting the principle escort me to each of my classes. English Coach seemed particularly happy and the other teachers seemed to be shocked. Students stared at me with new appreciation. People started noticing me as a troublemaker. And somehow, I knew I wasn't going to be able to avoid Gavin much longer, I was starting to miss his company.
