HOMEMADE PRESENTS

My dad whined about his birthday for the whole week leading up to it. Mom ended up buying him a new suit. It was obviously not what he wanted. He pouted around that whole day because he assumed we just forgot. Not that I'm sure we could, because of his constant reminding.

In art, instead of working on my bird, which I've just about given up on, I worked on making a card for him. The card was a day late, but it's the thought that counts, right?

Dad: "Freya, you did this for me? It's so beautiful, thank you."

Dad crushed me to his side, wrapping one arm around me and placing a kiss on my forehead. I quickly pulled away and wiped away the kiss. Gross.

He was a lot happier after my card and I was glad. Everyone deserves something heartfelt on their birthday. Even if it's October 13th, the unluckiest day to be born. That's probably why dad pouts on his birthday every year.
