"I used to think that humanity was worth saving, that there were good people in this world. But as time went on, the idea of humanity being perfect slowly slipped away from my mind and was replaced by what it truly was - cruel."

"we fight together"
"Oh sit down, sit down," Lilith cried, waving at everyone in the room to join her on the couch, Caesar Flickerman's face was displayed brightly on the flat screen t.v in front of us, his brightly died hair was now a hot pink colour - different from the last time I had seen him.
Adon and I squished together, making room for Alicia and our stylists, who also joined us on the couch. It was time they finally announced our individual scores, I could barely hear Caesar over the beating of my own heart, drumming rapidly in my chest. I hadn't done bad in the evaluation, I treated it like training, what scared me was what everyone else's scores would be.
Gaia placed a hand on my knee, giving me a reassuring smile as she always dod before these kinds of things, I let out a deep breath, watching the t.v.
"District One, Carter Ruan," Caesar began announcing the tribute scores, "a ten."
"District One, Maeve Elliot, nine."
"District Two, Tiberius Lane, a nine."
"District Two, Mika Santos, eight."
I frowned, their scores were so high, there was no way I'd come close to them.
"District Three, Chip Watson, five."
"District Three, Acer Holt, seven."
"District Four, Lana Hunt, seven."
"District Four, Hector Gibson, a six."
"District Five, Lyra Price, a five."
"District Five, Atom Glover, four."
"District Six, Piper Gattini, a seven."
"District Six, Isaac Curtis, an eight."
"District Seven, Oliver Griffin, four."
"District Seven, Aiden Hughes, three."
"District Eight, Paisley Marshall, five."
"District Eight, Chiffon Coates, seven."
I held my breath, watching as Caesar read the card with my score on it, "Aaliyah Fischer, District Nine," Caesar paused for a moment, his eyebrows furrowing.
"Aaliyah Fischer, District Nine, an eight," Caesar finally said, a hint of surprise in his voice. I gasped as my score was read out, Adon wrapped an arm around my shoulder, bringing me in close.
"Adon Fischer, District Nine," Caeser paused again, "nine."
The smile on my face grew even bigger as I looked up at Adon who also smiled proudly, Lilith, Alicia, Gaia and Adon's stylist all clapped, congratulating us on our achievements.
