it was Tuesday, Flaca was on her way back from work. she was waiting at her usual spot. she always took the bus, no she didn't have a license yet she always panicked when it came to the test, she failed it twice already

before hopping on the bus that stopped her right in front her own home she had a craving for something sweet, so while she was waiting for the bus she needed she bought a pack of Nutella biscuits

"here ya go last one"

the cashier says, Flaca pulls out a 5 dollar bill from her navy blue Blazer and passes it to the cashier as her phone buzzes

"pardon"

Flaca smiles politely, the cashier nods and puts her product in a transparent plastic bag while Flaca took the call

"hey, you have the Rodriguez case tomorrow, it has been moved to Saturday"

the voice said, Flaca takes a deep breath and closes her eyes

"I was gonna take it off, but the case is pretty important I guess"

"yeah, have you thought of what you're gonna do? I mean she has enough evidence and documents to take full custody, and honestly? I think it's better if she does so, he's dangerous Flaca"

The voice warned her

"you don't think I know that? I'm not stupid chica, but he's paying me to be on his side, it's my job"

Flaca says upset herself

"fine, whatever. I just feel like the kid's safety is more important then money, guess we don't have the same logic"

"ok now you're making me feel and look bad, I'm a lawyer Blanca, it's my job"

"that's no excuse, there's a kid in the middle who made it clear that she wants to be with her mother and-"

"and her mother was in prison-"

"and her father is a drug addict, and a sex trafficker. The woman has even said that she was one of the victims"

"there isn't evidence of that"

"the trauma she has on her and the scars she showed could be enough and you know that, besides we tracked down the victims it could be as easy as asking them to see if she's telling the truth and provide more evidence, you'd have a witness"

"OH MY GOD BLANCA!!"

Flaca says as she left the shop and told the cashier to keep the change

"JUST LISTEN TO ME FLACA!"

Blanca yells from the other side of the phone then calms down by taking a deep breath in and so does Flaca

"the woman has a stable job as an art teacher, she's young and her and the kid have a beautiful connection you can't just take that away from her, if she really is a victim and she's dealing with trauma, the little kid is helping her through everything"

"if she is traumatized then she needs medical attention meaning she's not capable of taking care of the little kid"
