The two women spent a day at the library, Gloria was right the riot was happening and it didn't look good at all, they avoided it all. Kept their name tags on to show they're not part of any bullshit, they locked themselves in their world where the only thing that mattered was them, their health, their happiness and making sure the other was safe and content.
"It's about time they barge in on us"
Maritza commented as she silently read the back of a book, Flaca stood next to her, resting against the shelf and looking at Maritza with very obvious heart eyes, Maritza feeling Flaca's gaze on her turns around to meet her eyes
"You still have a bad vibe"
Maritza didn't even have to ask, she could tell by Flaca's creased forehead and anxious lip biting, after receiving a nod from Flaca the small girl wrapped herself around Flaca's long body without saying a word and held her tight
"I don't want to lose you"
"I'm not losing you"
They both say together, Maritza looks up to her
"Nah fuck that you don't want to, you're not losing me, no matter what happens we're sticking together, and if we don't trust me we'll find our way back to each other, our paths don't just cross each other baby, they have the same destination. I know they do"
Maritza says determined and confident, she just wished she could tell her all she felt for her, but it wasn't the time, Flaca had too much on her plate and if she knew there were strong feelings between them it'll just panic her more, she still gave hints that she felt a certain way towards her, sometimes she was even bold about it
"And yes we might walk on a different path for a few, we might be without each other, I'll be on another path but that path is still gonna take me where yours is, it's just a different one that's all. It's still gonna be us at the end of the road, I know it's gonna be you and me in the end"
She says breaking eye contact and burying herself in Flaca's embrace thinking that she might have been a little too bold, but Flaca smiles at the thought, she gently slides down against the shelf still holding Maritza and thinks for a few seconds as they remained silent
"You think we're endgame?"
Flaca asks blushing slightly at the term knowing it's used for relationships
"Yes, and if we're not we'll change our destiny and tell Jesus to fuck off"
Maritza replied her voice muffled
"Friendship wise?"
Flaca blurts out before she could stop
herself, she feels Maritza smiling against her and calms herself down"Who knows, maybe more maybe not"
She is quick to reply, confident too making Flaca blush
"Yeah who knows right?"
Flaca sighs slightly tightening her grip around Maritza and leaving a kiss on her head
"You have a really peculiar gift you know?"
Maritza says referring to Flaca's vibe thing, making her scoff loudly in disagreement
"I'm gonna know when my future wife is gonna die, I'll look at her making tea when we're eighty and I'll know that she's not gonna be by my side tomorrow, and when we decide to get pregnant with our babygirl or boy I'll know that that baby won't make it out of the womb alive, I'll know she'll have a miscarriage and even though I'll know I'm gonna be helpless to prevent it, when she's waiting for the test results back at 50 for breast cancer and she's confident that she's healthy how am I gonna tell that beautiful face that she needs a prophylactic mastectomy before it's too late? We'll get into a fight cause I won't let her get on the flight to Paris for work but little does she know that plane will go down, my kids will hate me for ruining their plans, they won't get it, they won't understand that mami can feel things, they won't see me as their hero who saves them they'll see me as the annoying mother who won't let them have fun. It's not a gift, it's a curse"
