[CHAPTER TEN]

THE REAL DILEMMA CAME with whether Odette sat by Xia or Mei. The two girls sat far away from each other, Mei being closest to the front of the Great Hall. She didn't want to appear rude to either of them by choosing one over the other. In all honesty, she preferred to sit with Xia, but Mei was closer and Odette had no excuse that she could get away with other than the truth, which wasn't exactly pleasant either. Neither girls needed her company either. Mei had her friends and while Lola was in Gryffindor, Xia had plenty of people to talk to at the Ravenclaw table.

With one last moment of hesitation, Odette decided to sit by Mei.

"You're quite the popular one, aren't you?" said Olivia Mae as soon as Odette took a seat.

"It's just curiosity," said Mei, "She'll be long forgotten in a couple of weeks."

Odette's eyes widened in surprise as food appeared before them.

"So, Odette," said Mei, turning to her, "Welcome to Ravenclaw! Allow us to teach you everything you need to know."

"The Ravenclaw common room is located in the Ravenclaw tower," said Mei as she filled up her plate, "You'll see it when it's time to go to bed. In order to enter the common room, you must answer a riddle given to you by the knocker. Take your time because if you get it wrong you have to wait for someone else who gets it right."

"What dorm is she staying in again?" asked Olivia Mae.

"I think she's staying with Emma," said Mei, "Where is she anyway? Usually, she's always nearby somewhere."

While the trio discussed Emma's whereabouts, Odette took this moment to look around. She had never really seen anything like the Great Hall, or maybe she had. Her mind went back to Margot's letter. Odette had lost her memories, but she was fully capable. She knew how to speak and understand body language. If one didn't know any better, they would have no idea she lost her memories.

"Hey!" said Xia as she plopped down beside Odette, "I'm so glad you got into Ravenclaw! We could spend more time that way. I could definitely show you around the castle later. Oh, you have to see the library!"

Odette nodded, an idea popping into her head, "I'd love to see the library."

"Hey, Xia," said Mei, "Have you seen Emma?"

"Oh yeah," said Xia, "She's talking to a professor right now, why?"

"Well, it's just strange that I haven't seen her," said Mei, "She spends the majority of the dinner in the beginning of the year welcoming the firsties."

Xia pointed at the entrance, "There she is."

Odette turned to see where Xia pointed. The Great Hall doors opened and a Ravenclaw girl with bronze hair walked through. She had a pin on her robes that Odette wasn't sure what it was for.

"Wow, looks like we got to be careful now," said Aditi, "Or else we'll get in trouble with Ms. Head Girl."

Emma laughed, "Nice to see you too, Aditi."

"Congrats!" said Olivia Mae, "How did I not know this? You should have told me over the summer!"

"I was busy," said Emma, "and it completely slipped my mind."

Her eyes fell on Odette and she smiled, "You must be Odette, right? I'm Emma, nice to meet you."

They shook hands.

"Welcome to Ravenclaw," said Emma, "I'll be back in a while. If I get held up, make sure to show her where the Ravenclaw common room is, will you?"
