"One night, Reg. Just one night. That's all I ask for. How bad can one night be?"

Life was a strange thing.
That was what seventeen-year-old witch Odette came to decide after waking up in a stranger's home with no recollection of who and wher...

— [CHAPTER FOURTEEN] —
"WHY DO YOU WANT THIS BOOK ANYWAY?"
Odette looked up to see that Xia had entered the Ravenclaw common room with a book in her hand. Odette had wanted to read a book about "Xenio de Mortes", but she doubted she would get permission to do so, so she asked Xia if she could borrow it for her. Xia agreed and, within a few days, was able to borrow the book.
"It's a rather interesting topic," shrugged Odette, "Thanks, Xia."
"No problem," said Xia as she handed the book over, "Hey, Lola and I will be hanging out in the courtyard later today. You should join us."
"I'll see," smiled Odette. Xia nodded and disappeared up the stairs that led to the girl dormitories.
Odette went up to her dorm and plopped down on her bed. Chloe was hanging off of her bed, reading a book. Chloe only glanced at her before she returned to her book. Odette opened her book and started to read.
— Onlya handful of people have been proven to have contact with Xenio de Mortes or, as I will call them, Death Genies.
There was a short list of people who got caught. Odette quickly scanned the names until one caught her eye.
Noham Benoit.
Odette recognized the name as the last Benoit to attend Beauxbatons before everyone born into the Benoit family was homeschooled, but there was something she didn't understand. Even if the Benoit family didn't go to school, there had to be records about them either way. They had to get a job, unless they were wealthy to the point that it lasted for centuries, but she seriously doubted that.
She put that thought aside in that moment as she flipped through the pages where it discussed the relations between wizards and Death Genies.
Death Genies are unpredictable, which is one of the reasons we are no longer to contact them. Not much are known about them, but one thing is known. They could either help you or hurt you and the thing is no one knows. They give off no sign that they want to cause you harm, which is a danger to many.
One of the most known cases about them is the case of Noham Benoit. Not much is known as it was a private case, but Benoit was detained by French Ministry officials after his youngest son revealed everything in a moment of hysteria. Benoit was labeled mentally unstable after questioning, much to the shock of his family. He passed away shortly after and the family was rarely heard from again.
So, the Benoits had something to with the Xenio de Mortes. Odette wondered if they had anything to do with the recent disappearance of the family. She flipped to the chapter that discussed what they were.
