[CHAPTER THREE]
—
ODETTE BARELY GOT ANY SLEEP that night. She tossed and turned, but every time she closed her eyes a sort of panic developed in her chest. She had calmed down significantly since she realized she knew nothing about herself, but it seemed her body knew a lot more than she did. There was this fear that she had, but she didn't know what it was.
To be frank, Odette was still terrified. Liu and her daughters seemed very kind and accepting, they had welcomed a stranger afterall. However, it was the fact that a part of her mind still remained empty. She wanted to remember, but whenever she tried to think back to her past there was nothing. It was almost as if she didn't exist until yesterday.
She didn't know if her family was still alive. Dumbledore could have been right, was her family attacked? Or perhaps they weren't and she merely had an accident? Was she being missed somewhere else in the world? All she had was a black shoe, part of a wand, and a bracelet to help her. The bracelet might have not even been hers and she had just given herself a totally random name.
She was wide awake when someone knocked on the door. Odette scrambled up from her bed and opened the door.
Mei smiled at her, "I was just seeing if you were awake. Breakfast will be ready in a few. You can change into this."
Mei handed Odette an outfit neatly folded. Odette thanked her and closed the door. She wondered if her clothes were ever that neat or if she was messy? Mei had handed her a plain long-sleeved shirt, a jumper, and a pair of jeans.
Odette changed into the clothes and sat on her bed. What could she do now? Her blue eyes scanned the room. It really was a nice room, but it was quite boring with nothing to do there for entertainment. Odette stood back up and looked out of the window. It looked like a nice day. Odette left her room and stood in front of Mei's room. She hesitated, but she was eventually able to knock on Mei's door.
Mei opened the door, a small smile forming on her lips.
"Odette," she said, "How can I help you?"
"Are you busy?" asked Odette.
"Not really," said Mei, "Come on in."
Odette stepped into the room. Mei's room was a lot more interesting than her own. Odette noticed the moving photographs, which looked to be quite interesting.
"Those are my friends," said Mei, noticing Odette's gaze. Mei walked over to one of the photographs and pointed to one of the girls.
"That's Olivia Mae," said Mei, "And that's Aditi."
"They look nice," said Odette.
Mei laughed, "I guess they do, but I wouldn't say they are nice. Olivia Mae is the literal gossip queen. She knows everything about almost everyone, I don't know how. Aditi is just really competitive, she's a great asset to the quidditch team though."
"Quidditch?" questioned Odette.
"It's this really popular sport," said Mei, "I don't personally like it, but Hua has been for years. In fact, she just recently got accepted into a professional quidditch team! She's waiting for Lynwood to return before she leaves though. If you want to know more, you should talk to her. Hua could speak about quidditch for hours at a time. One time I made the mistake to ask her a question regarding quidditch and I was forced to listen to her for a whole hour. If it wasn't for Xia, it might have been longer."
The two girls laughed before Mei remembered something else.
"Oh! And this —" She pointed to another photograph, "Is Bray, he was the captain of the Ravenclaw Quidditch team. I think he's going to work at the Ministry now, I want to pay him a visit, especially since I had a huge crush on him for so long. He never liked me though," frowned Mei.
