[CHAPTER THIRTY-EIGHT]
—ODETTE WAS IN XIA'S BEDROOM, except she wasn't. It appeared she was with the shocking pink sheets and tacky green bed frame. The walls appeared as if paint was just splattered on them and the messy desk. It appeared just like Xia's bedroom, but Odette knew it was impossible for it to be so. For one; they were at Hogwarts, not back home.
"Wow. . .what is this place?" breathed out Odette in awe. Xia smiled as she jumped on the bed. The bed creaked.
"Welcome to the Room of Requirement, Odette," said Xia.
"Is this where you've been disappearing to everyday?"
Xia nodded.
"But — why? Olivia Mae said you've been skipping class a lot."
"Of course she did," grumbled Xia, "Do you still hang out around her?"
"Olivia Mae doesn't exactly go away when you want her to, Xia," said Odette.
"Want to hear a tip?" said Xia as she patted the bed. Odette sat down beside her. "When you want her to go away just pretend to be invested in her family life."
"Xia, that's awful," said Odette, "You know how she feels about her family."
"I do, but it's not like she's considerate about my problems, so why should I be considerate of hers?"
"You can't fight fire with fire and expect it to not blow up," said Odette, "I'd rather just continue ignoring Olivia Mae."
"You do that and when she takes advantage of the situation, don't be shocked," said Xia.
Odette stared at the wall, "What were we talking about before Olivia Mae? I think I asked a question, but I can't remember what."
"Huh? You did?" said Xia as she tapped her chin. She shook her head, "I don't remember, sorry."
"Really? Anyway, I should go to class—"
Xia grabbed her hand, "Can't you stay until the bell?"
"I'd like to, but I have potions," said Odette, "I'll be late with all those stairs in my way."
She didn't want to admit it, but she hoped she ran into Regulus on the way. She didn't want to say anything to him, she would just like to steal a glance his direction. If she didn't hurry, he would soon leave the Great Hall. Speaking of leaving early, she also had to stop by the kitchens to pick up her watch. She kept forgetting it and it has made the last few days miserable. She kept looking down at her wrist only to see nothing but the bracelet.
"Fine," said Xia, "But we'll have to catch up later, okay?"
"Okay," said Odette, "I'll catch up with you soon then, bye!"
Xia waved as Odette left the Room of Requirement. The doors disappeared behind her. Odette turned around and stared at the wall for a long time; she'd remember it. She felt a little bad and she'd never admit it, but she did use the Xun family a little. Even when the sisters made her upset, she stuck with them. It wasn't because she got over things quickly, it was because she needed them and she knew that if she got into a fight with one sister, she got into a fight with all the sisters.
She wondered if she and her siblings had that bond. They'd argue a lot, but at the end of the day, they'd do anything for each other. It left a smile on her face as she thought about it. The Xun family was nice, but they were not her family. That was all Odette wanted, really. Her family.
Unfortunately, Odette did not run into Regulus. She even peeked into the Great Hall, but she didn't get a good view because she ran away when Olivia Mae saw her.
