A/N at the end

'Since you left I stay up every night
Thinking if you were here
You'd put me right'

"So, he just apologised?" Ash frowns, stirring her coffee.

"Yeah. Very random." I take a sip of my milkshake, glancing across to the other booth where Luke is sitting with some girl called Stacy. Apparently they're partners for a new project, but they haven't picked up their pens once.

"You know, they will eventually realise you're watching them." Ashley comments, smiling at me. I roll my eyes.

"I'm not watching them. I just find it funny they're doing a project yet don't have any resources out." At this, she bursts into loud laughter that captures a few peoples attention.

"You are so jealous!" She exclaims. I huff, leaning back into the chair.

"I am not!"

"Who are we jealous of?" Kit has arrived at the table and I smile at him. Despite the fact that we aren't really interested in each other, he's become a great friend and I now sit next to him in Spanish.

"She's jealous of them." Ashley points her finger to Luke's table. I slap it down, worried he'll notice and she laughs again.

"Is that Stacy?" Kit sits beside me, peeking at their table. "She was so pleased she got him for a partner."

"I'll bet." I mutter. Kit chuckles, throwing an arm around my neck.

"You poor lovesick thing." He rubs my hair. I shove him off, glaring at them both.

"Okay, for the goddamn last time-"

"Hey." Luke slides into the seat next to Ashley, nodding to us. I glance over at Stacy who seems annoyed, throwing her books in her bag.

"Study date over so soon?" Ashley folds her arms, a wicked smiling crossing her face.

"Nothing more to say. This was more of a get to know you thing." He shrugs. "You coming to the game tonight Kit?"

"Of course. We need to beat those assholes." He rolls his eyes, seeming a little agitated.

"Who is it?" I ask, looking between them both.

"They're called the panthers. If we beat them, we go to the next round basically." Kit explains. "But they're horrible players. They cheat for starters and are particularly sore losers."

"You remember Torrance?" Ashley pipes up, frowning at me. I nod. Torrance was a football player last year, but dropped out for literally no reason. He was one of the star players too and it really broke the team.

"Well he was tormented by their players before a big game. They went for him during the game, totally finished him. It literally drove him out the sport." Kit leans into the table, rubbing his forehead. "We don't know who they'll target this year."

I rub his shoulder, attempting to comfort him slightly. Luke watches us, seeming unhappy.

"What's up?" I say, looking at him. He jolts up a little.
