I wake up the next day, my phone buzzing beside me. I roll over, groaning, and answer it.
"Hello?" I croak, all my limbs stiff. My eyes are trying to open and slowly failing, as I almost start to drift off again.
"Where are you?" Hollie's sharp voice wakes me up, sounding annoyed.
"At home. Why?" I attempt to rub some sleep from my eyes. I stayed up late doing essentially nothing, just scrolling through my phone.
"You were supposed to meet us at the mall an hour ago." She moans as I finally notice hear chatter in the background. I glance to the bedside clock, my eyes widening. 14:27. Shit.
"I'm a late sleeper." I say defensively, clambering out of the bed. "I'll be there in twenty."

"So, how many people are going?" Dylan stirs another packet into his coffee while Hollie watches in a mixture of disgust and awe.
"A lot." She answers, tearing her eyes away from the monstrosity. It has like four pumps of caramel and so far, six sugars in it. Dylan is gross. "He invited everyone from our grade."
I whistle quietly, sipping my own coffee. That will be a lot.
"I'm guessing Karina is going?" Dylan mutters, leaning back into the sofa. Hollie unconsciously leans into him, nodding her head. I can't help but watch them, fitting together in such nice harmony. Hollie starts to explain something, but my mind is elsewhere.
I just don't understand how two people who fit so well together can't see it. They're literally blind to how perfect they are.
Well, Hollie is anyway.
"Hey, what's up guys?" A voice asks from above me and I glance up, Luke standing right beside me. I offer a small smile.
"Just grabbing some coffee before later. Are you coming to Kyle's?" Dylan asks, throwing his arm behind Hollie on the couch. She seems to notice, shuffling almost closer. I raise my eyebrow curiously, neither of them noticing me. I glance at Luke and see he's noticed too, forcing down a smile.
"For sure." He nods. I notice that he seems a little breathless, his t-shirt seeming wet.
"Where have you been?" I ask and his attention focuses down to me, his eyes seeming darker than usual. I watch him, desperate to avoid blushing.
"The gym. I'm just picking up some coffee for my dad." He explains and right then, the barista shouts his name out. As he walks away to collect it, I notice Dylan and Hollie having their own little conversation.
I want to leave, but it feels a little rude to just leave them here. Yet, they seem perfectly fine being alone. I know Dylan certainly wouldn't mind.
"You heading home after this?" Luke reappears in front of me, ignoring the two behind him.
"I was planning to, but these two need to get Hollie some clothes and Dylan needs new boots etc." I motion towards them. They're still in a quiet conversation, completely oblivious to us.
"Want a ride?" He asks and I nod, collecting my stuff.
"I'll see you guys at mine." I say, finally catching their attention. They both wave goodbye, seeming pleased. I roll my eyes.
The car ride back to my house is a little quiet, Luke seeming worried. I notice his hands gripping the steering wheel, his knuckles becoming pale. He's concentrating extremely hard too, as if he's trying to take his time.
