Luke is gone when I wake up the next morning, leaving a note beside the bed which reads he had to go home before school.
I groan and hit my alarm snooze again, feeling exhausted. Not to be too over the top with detail, but let's just say I was up pretty late.
The alarm goes off minutes later, forcing me out of bed.
Today is going to suck.
Ashley is at my locker before I even have a chance to close it and is grinning from ear to ear.
"So? How was your weekend?" She questions, walking with me to class.
"It was fine." I shrug. "How was yours?"
"Ryan took me for a very nice meal. I got an awesome present too." She shows it to me.
"Very nice." I mutter. She groans, standing in front of me.
"Come on. Spill!"
"Spill what?" I tease, raising my eyebrow at her.
"Fine. If you're going to be difficult, you do that. But I'm coming over tonight! And you will tell me everything." She walks off, causing me to shake my head in amusement.
I enter English and Luke is already there, watching the door. I offer a small smile, sitting next to him. It's so different between us now. What was a friendly atmosphere has turned practically electric.
"I think." He whispers, as Mr Grande starts to write on the board, "I need to see you after class."
"Is that so?" I reply, writing in my book. He smiles.
"Yep. In fact, I think you'll need to skip Biology." He leans away then, writing in his own book. My skin prickles and I shiver, trying to focus on the lesson.
It isn't very successful, especially with Luke completely managing to ignore me the entire time. As soon as the bell rings, he practically shoots out of class and I try to subtly follow.
Hollie grabs my arm as I leave and spot him waiting across the hall for me.
"Hey." She seems tense. "Listen, we really need to talk."
"Okay." I look at Luke who's smiling, arms folded as he waits. "Is it really serious? I need to be somewhere."
"Well, it could probably wait." She shrugs and catches Luke watches us. "Where are you two off to?"
"Uh, you know.." I stutter, literally attempting not to slap myself. Think of something!
"She's helping me with a project." Luke interjects. His hand is placed on my back, hidden from Hollie.
"Oh, cool. I'll see you at lunch?" She nods to me. I just nod in reply as Luke practically drags me down the hallway.
He reaches some old stationary closet and pulls me inside.
"Did you even check if someone saw-?"
He's kissing me again, leaving me no time to think or even speak. Sparks explode beneath my eyes as I shut them and he slides his hands down my shoulders, pulling me closer. His hands wrap round my back, pressing us together until we hit the wall.
