Chapter 15: Laugh all You Want

Bumblewind stopped. Dewberry cocked her head. "What?" He took a deep breath. "Dewberry, daughter of one of Sun Herd's most famous mediocre mares, lover of winning and playing pranks on pegasi, will you, maybe, be my..." He stopped again. She froze. "Be your what?" He took the deepest and longest breath in the history of Anok. "Mate. Will you be my mate." At that moment she noticed everything. The singing of a bluebird, the breeze going through her mane, the rustle Of leaves as a rabbit bounded through a bush, and her own heart thumping. "I... Ummm... Well I can't..." She stopped. Now he froze. "Well I can't say no to your handsome face now can I? Especially since I'm with your foal." A smile started to spread across his face, then it grew puzzled. "What are you talking about?" He asked slowly. "Well, you know how I found you last night out here and I slept next to you? Well apparently we mated in our sleep and now I'm pretty sure I'm with your foal." Bumblewind looked stunned. After a moment though he relaxed. "So then if you say yes it won't matter that we weren't mates when you became with foal right?" She nodded. "Exactly. And my answer is yes. It would have been anyway." He looked relieved. "For a second I thought you were going to say no!" She shook her head, laughing. "I know I've done things like that to you before, but I'm not that cruel!" He nickered. "Deep down somehow I knew that." She nuzzled him and he wrapped his wings around her. Dewberry put her head on his strong chest. Suddenly without warning she slammed into him playfully and laughed hysterically when he fell THUD! on his rump looking confused. "What was that for?" She explained while still laughing hard. "Just for good measure."

Morningleaf started preening her feathers out of boardum. What could they be doing? She soon finished preening her feathers. "I can probably go back now, right?" She asked aloud without thinking. "I'm going to go check anyway." She cantered back into the small glade to a sight that made her want to laugh and stare in shock. Bumblewind was half sitting half laying on the ground looking a little confused as Dewberry stood in front of him, pointing at him and laughing her head off. Now Morningleaf did laugh and came closer. "What happened to you?" Morningleaf asked trying to contain her laughter. Bumblewind threw up his wings. "I have no idea in the least!" Dewberry fell on the grass and rolled around still laughing at him. Morningleaf shook her head. "Sometimes you guys really confuse me," she snorted. "Like right now." Dewberry, seeming to have run out of laughs, rolled to her hooves. "It just felt like a perfect moment to make Mr. Handsome here make a fool of himself, that's all." At that moment Morningleaf heard something heavy step on a branch behind her. She looked at Bumblewind, who looked completely utterly shocked. Morningleaf clenched her teeth and slowly turned around.
