Y/N
"Let me tell you something." I told Kara when Cameron walked out of the room. "If you ever pull a stunt like that again or try to step up to Cameron, it's gonna be me and you." She rolled her eyes at me.
"I'm just trying to expose him for who he really is?" she says back.
"And who is he really?" I ask, my eyebrow raised.
"Just like every other guy." she began. "Wanting to sleep with all the girls, putting on a front."
"You're still mad from when you thought he was leading you on, huh?" I asked, returning my attention to the food I was preparing.
"I didn't think he was leading me on." she responded. "I knew he was leading me on."
"It's not our fault that you can't read signals." I say, sighing.
"Alright Y/N." she says, beginning to leave the room. "I'm just trying to look out for you as your sister." What type of sister tries to push up on their sister's baby daddy knowing damn well that they're committed to each other. I don't know if she's noticed this yet, but Cameron isn't like any other baby daddy. While he has his manly tendencies, he does not actively pursue other women, he's not disrespectful to me or Junior, and he's always there when I need him.
Honestly, Kara must like Cameron. That is the only logical explanation we can all think of.
"You're still coming to mom and pop's for breakfast right?" Cameron asks me as he's coming down the stairs. "They're so excited to see you and Junior. They miss the both of you."
"Of course." I said, smiling at him. "I wouldn't miss it for the world."
"Alright, sweet." he said. Turning around to look at him, I almost dropped the oven baked mac and cheese on the floor. "Hey, we gotta eat that."
"Why did you cut your hair and shave a little?" I asked, pouting.
"Easy maintenance." he said back. "I was tired of my hair getting into my eyes during the games. It hurt, like real bad."
"I feel like you didn't it because you hate me." I say, giggling. He gasped.
"Me? Hate you? I could never." he responded, smirking. "Now. What are we eating?"
"Fried pork chops, mash potatoes, mac and cheese, and a salad." I say. "Any objections?"
"Only if Kara cooked it." he responds and I couldn't help but laugh.
"Put Junior in his high chair for me and then take a seat at the table. I'll make your plate." I say before planting one on his lips.
"Come on papa." he said, chasing Junior around in his walker. I wiped down his high chair tray, chopping his food up as fine as he could chew without choking and laid it across his tray. I poured him some apple juice in his sippy cup and slid his tray in front of him. He went straight for that juice."Okay." I say to him. "I know apple juice is your favorite, but I'm gonna need you to eat your food too." I ran my hands through his hair. "Just as soft as your daddy's." He smiled at me before shoving food in his mouth.
"Justin! Tre!" I heard Cameron shout from the table. "The food is ready!" I could already head them scrambling from out of their man cave like they were fucking idiots.
"Awwwwwww yeaaaaah." Tre said as he ran down the stairs.
"Not before me!" Justin said, jumping on his back, forcing Tre to keep his balance as he continued down the stairs.
"Y'all are so immature." I say, rolling my eyes.
"You know we love your cooking sis." Justin says, hopping off of Tre as they reached the bottom of the stairs. He came over to me and gave me a hug and a kiss on my forehead.
"Yeah." Tre said, already stacking his plate and giving me a kiss on my cheek. "Love you baby sis." I started making Cameron's plate, just the way he likes. I looked up at him from the kitchen, smiling as he had meaningful interactions with my brothers. When I first brought Cameron here, I didn't think they would hit it off so well. My brothers are very over protective, but all that seemed to go away once they met Cameron.
"Okay. Okay." he said to Justin and Tre. "Top 5 NBA plays the past two weeks."
"Well." Tre began. "I'd have to say your half court shot the last game."
"Followed by Lebron's dunk also the last game." Justin added. "We can't forget about Curry's accuracy behind the line or Green's slasher mentality in the paint." I tuned them out after that, checking on Junior to make sure he was still good. I walked over to the table, setting Cameron's plate in front of him to go back and make my own.
"Thanks baby, I mean Y/N." he said.
"You said what you said." Tre said, laughing. "You can't take it back now bro."
"Y'all about to make some more beautiful mixed babiessssss." I heard Justin say.
"Shut y'all dumb asses up." I said to the both of them. "You're welcome, Cam."
"Y'all are stupid." Cameron said, smirking before taking a bite of his food.
"Kara!" I screamed. "Come make your plate!" Finishing my own plate, I came and sat at the table, right next to Cameron.
"Can I have some of what you got?" he asked, chuckling.
"Only if I can have some of yours." I say back.
"But I want all of mine." he said, fake pouting.
"Then I guess you get none of mine." I say back, also fake pouting. The conversation was going good between all of us, until Kara joined us at the table. The awkward silence began, shortly after that. The only sounds that could be heard in the room was Junior's aggressive chomping of his pork chops and his occasional gulp from his sippy cup. He was like Cameron whenever anyone set a pizza down in front of him. The tension was so thick at the table, I felt like I couldn't breathe.
"So." Kara said, looking at everyone, but of course Cameron avoided her gaze. "Are you excited for your upcoming game, Cameron?" He looked around at all of us, food in the corner of his mouth, before answering.
"Well.. yeah.." he said. "I'm excited for every game, really."
"That's good." she said. "I'll be sitting court-side for you and Talen." I could feel Cameron tense up beside me, his jaw locked on his last bite he took of his almost finished plate. I put my hand on his thigh, rubbing it, trying to calm him down. Kara would always say some shit she knew would make him uncomfortable or upset.
"Oooookay." Tre said, breaking the silence that was present. "Y/N. Tell me about the logistics for your clothing line. You haven't spoken to us about it for a while and we're curious." I could already tell that this was going to be a long dinner with the frequent subject changes at the table. That's if Cameron decided that he would stay for after dinner antics or leave the table because of Kara.
