China

I wanted to
Start again with you

"Hey I'm going to get another drink." Cameron said to me. "Do you wanna come sit with me?"

"Yeah, I will." I said, looking over at the girls. "I'll be right back."

"I've been meaning to talk to you." he said, his voice soft.

"About what?" I said as we sat at the bar, ordering our drinks.

"Why'd you kiss me?" he asked causing me to laugh quietly to myself.

"If I answer, do I get to ask a question?" I asked back. He nodded, sipping on his drink.

"I miss you, Cameron." I said. "So much."

"But you wanted this. I mean I know we both agreed to tell everyone that it was equal on our parts, but it wasn't." he said back. "You turned one thing that wasn't even that big, into something that was so much more."

"I was drunk. It was dark. I accidentally kissed her, thinking it was you and you just blew it up. And you said you forgave me for it, but you just kept going after." he continued.

"Cam-," I tried to say, but he continued.

"You let it carry on into our college years, constantly thinking that I was doing something to hurt you when I wasn't. It's obvious that I miss you too, China." he said.

"Is that why you kissed me back?" I asked.

"Don't ask stupid questions, chocolate drop." he said, sipping on his drinks again. "Why didn't you trust me? I havent even thought about anyone else. Look, look at this." He took his phone out.

"Cam, please." I said. "I thought we were moving on from this."

"No. I can't move on from it, Chi. I'm crazy about you." he said. "I haven't changed anything. Nothing. Haven't deleted anything either."

"And you know what, Cameron?" I questioned. "I haven't either." I took my phone out, showing him.

"Then why can't we just get back together?" he questioned. "You don't want anyone else. I don't want anyone else. Just trust me, Chi." He moved closer to me, cupping my cheeks in his hands and putting our foreheads together.

"Car keys." I said. "Where are your car keys?"

"In my pocket." he said. "But why does that matter?"

"Go." I said, pushing him off his chair and towards to exit. "Let's go."

"What? Go where?" he asked.

"Stop asking questions and just go." I said, continuing to push him. And I kept pushing him, through all his questions, through the parking lot, slamming him up against the side of his car.

"What. Are. You. Doing?" he asked.

"Get in." I said.

"What? Why? What are we gonna tell our friends?" he asked. I sighed, taking his car keys from him, unlocking the doors, pulling him away from them to open them.

"China just give me an answer!" he yelled. "You can give me everything, but an answer!" I pushed him in, getting in behind him and locking the doors, throwing his keys in the passenger seat. "Kidnapping me is not an answer!" I grabbed him, by his shirt, smashing our lips together in a kiss that set me on fire, every moment we shared, playing back in my mind.

"I trusted you, Cameron." I said, out of breath. "I still trust you to this day. I did forgive you even though I had nothing to forgive you for because it was an honest mistake. I didn't trust myself." He wasted no time, getting our lips back together, pulling me in his lap, the both of us breathing heavy. I struggled getting the buttons undone on his shirt, eager to feel all of him again. He bit my bottom lip, grabbing both of my hands.

"We can't do this here." he said.

"Why?" I questioned. "Your windows are tinted."

"We're also not very far from the entrance and the both of us being gone for this long is very suspicious." he said. "Let's just go back inside and finish the night."

"I don't care about the night." I said. "I care about you."

"Chi." he laughed, buttoning his shirt back up. "I'm saving us from jail and a long explanation to our friends and family. Emphasis on saving us from jail."

"Public indecency is not something I want to catch a charge for." he continued. "Now come on. Whatever this was about to be, we can do at some other night." I sighed, getting off of his lap.

Cameron was my first love, in fact, he's my only love. Being best friends for a long time, something in me just clicked one day and I fell in love. Falling in love for the first time is scary and I didn't think I was ready for that commitment like he showed me he was. He never did anything wrong, but I fought with him like he did.

"I told you I had basketball practice!" he screamed at me. "I literally sent you photo and video proof! The fucking live video is on the UCLA basketball Instagram! What more proof do you want???"

"Whatever, Cameron." I said back as I hung up the FaceTime call.

"She is a friend of Taj's, China." he sighed. "I literally met her, yesterday."

"Then why was she in your room if you literally met her yesterday?" she questioned.

"Taj is my fucking roommate." he said back.

***

"Thought you said you would text me back when you got in?" I questioned.

"Literally just walked through the door and caught Taj fucking his girlfriend." I said. "I think I deserve to have a moment of trauma to myself."

It's me. I have to back off. I have to give him his space.
