Epilogue

I sat on a chair in my and Colby's room looking at myself in the mirror. We're about to go out and Kat and Sam are here. Kat helped me get ready and they're both going to babysit Lucas.

I'm 5 months pregnant now and Colby and I found out that we're going to have a baby girl. I turned 20 last month, Lucas just turned 4 and is starting preschool in September. I'm glad Lucas has started seeing Colby as a father figure, considering the fact that his biological father is permanently out of his life. 

"Are you ready to go?" Colby asked, peeking into the room. 

"Yeah."

Colby was wearing a white button-up shirt, a pair of black dress pants, and black dress shoes. He had his usual plethora of rings covering his fingers, and he had a bracelet or two on either of his wrists. I was wearing a wine red, knee-length, lace, off the shoulder dress with a pair of black flats and a gold necklace. 

Colby and I left the house after saying goodbye to Lucas, Sam, and Kat and drove to a nearby restaurant. The restaurant we were going to, la Maison Dorée, was pretty fancy, seeing as the place was packed, all that was playing was the live piano, it was pretty quiet, and all of the staff were much more dressed up than the staff of a 'typical' restaurant.

We were seated pretty fast and the waiter even asked about my pregnancy when we were ordering our drinks and congratulated us, and the food was amazing. All in all the date ended far too soon. As soon as we finished eating and Colby paid, we stood up, ready to leave. 

I began my walk towards the exit, but before I could take a single step, Colby stopped me. 

"Mira, from the day I met you, I knew I would love you, no matter what, until the day I die." At that moment he dropped down to one knee, pulled a small, red velvet box out from behind his back and opened it. "Would you, Mira Skylar Abbate, make me the happiest man alive and marry me?"

At this point, I was crying. Not trusting my voice, I nodded my head yes before Colby took the ring out of the box and placed in on my left ring finger.

I think this is the best day of my life.
