Jeanette was frustrated. "Boys! Come on!"

Madeline looked up at her mother. "They're taking forever!"

"Indeed!"

Michael the Third, Michael the Fourth and Malcolm finally made it downstairs. "No fair!"

"We're missing church to clean your house! We're not going to be napping!"

"I know but couldn't we sneak in a nap?" Malcolm pleaded.

"No. Pierce's will be delivering things all this week and Marceline Anne wants the house clean before they get there."

"Knew not to marry a germaphobe..." He grumbled.

"Put on your outside things!" She pointed to the door.

He looked at her like he'd never seen her before in his life. "You've gotten mean."

She stiffened her lips as he went to get ready. "I have not."

"You seem a little... aggressive." Michael the Third said as the kids got ready.

"Being around Marceline Anne has given me confidence." She raised her nose with a sniff.

"A little girl gave you confidence?"

"She's not so little. Besides, she reminds me of Father. No one will ever take advantage of her. She stands for something and never wavers. I appreciate that and if I emulate it then I guess you're just going to have to get used to it."

His mouth fell open as she went to put on her own things. He was starting to think Marceline Anne was turning his wife against him with her brash ways.

As he went to put on his own layers, he couldn't squash his desire for his wife's new attitude.

Marceline Anne opened the door. "Hey!"

The Chang family waved. "Hi!"

"We each have a room to do upstairs and downstairs and we're going to do the attic and basement together."

"I don't understand." Madeline frowned. "Why are you cleaning before the furniture gets here? Isn't the store just going to make it dirty again?"

"Yes. We're cleaning to clean up after the contractors and a deep clean period. When the store gets here, they'll mess up a little with the snow and ice and dirt on their feet but those spaces will be easy to clean. Then the same when we move our stuff in."

"Ohh...! You've thought this through!"

"Always have a plan." Marceline Anne cupped the little girl's chin.

Madeline smiled.

"What are we doing first?" Jeanette asked as they all took off their layers.

"The basement. Artie's going to stay up here and help with room measurements." Marceline Anne said.

"Room measurements?" Michael the Fourth was confused.

"Yeah, I measured the rooms before shopping so I'd know what size to get everything but I want to be double sure."

"Is this part of the always having a plan thing?"

"Yes."

"I think I like you."

She giggled.

"And you're adorable!" He hugged her.

"Go downstairs." She chuckled.
