Here's the rough sketches,
Aaaaand the final piece,,
I'm quite fond of it, actually! This is the first original composition drawn for myself that I've done since.... frames for my PMV in February, what the heck-?! (That's a LONG time, just for reference)
But, anyway, a lot of inspiration actually went into this drawing. I've got my girl Sparklepool there, since she's got purple eyes which, after a quick Google search, I remembered actually ARE within the complementary colour range with green! Her overall vibe and character also fit in with the Lord Huron song (which I'll get to in a minute), as well as the premise of this illustration. Also, to spruce up the complementary-ness, and since I wanted some sort of shrubs anyway, I put lilac bushes in there, too! (Also because I have lilac bushes in my yard and they smell so good and look so P r E t T y)
I also tried to use the vibe and lyrics from Emerald Star (the song this drawing is based off of) in the composition. The first line of the song, "Here by the lake what a vision you are in the light of the Emerald Star", is the reason Sparklepool is laying beside a pond of some sort, and "with the moonlight in your eyes" is the reason for the extra bright, emerald-shaped shine in Sparklepool's eyes. The whole piece is pretty peaceful (piece-ful, haha), and I'm a fan of the vibe 👍
...
I put the actual Lord Huron song up there somewhere ^^ for some daily culture
Lord Huron's nowhere close to mainstream, (hopefully never will be) and their music is very unique and mysterious. 10/10 would recommend (and by 10/10, I mean me. I would recommend. I am the 10.)And you KNOW that Lord Huron is good, because some rando person on the internet told ya such 😉
Have a good day. And do not get hit on the head by any emeralds falling out of the sky ✳️
