Narrator's POV
Seth and Becky finally set out for the amusement park. Seth insists on driving with the excuse that Becky would get too distracted by him to concentrate on the road.
Becky doesn't argue with him because she knows that's exactly what he wants. The drive is generally a smooth one ignoring the various occasions when Seth almost crashes the car trying to show off his
"driving prowess" to Becky and the one time Becky 'accidentally' drops her hand on his lap.
" And you said I'd get get distracted" she says, grinning devilishly as she enjoys her revenge.
When they finally arrive at the amusement park, they take a seat admiring the breathtakingly beautiful view. The lush green of the trees and we'll trimmed lawn, the jaw droppingly gorgeous rides.
After marvelling at the beautiful site, Seth goes to grab some food for them both while Becky finds a private and enclosed space for them. He returns with hotdogs and hamburgers.
" You know your gonna eat all that alone, right?" Becky asks looking at the meal in disgust.
" What do you mean?" Seth asks rather hurt.
" I'm a vegetarian!" She says matter of factly as Seth's expression changes to that of remorse.
" How could I forget?" He asks rhetorically, feeling ashamed.
" It's not a big deal" Becky replies, shrugging it off but Seth would have none of it.
" What do you want to have?" Seth asks seriously. " A veggie burger and fries would do" Becky replies nervously.
" Your wish is my command" Seth says, zooming off in the direction of one of the food stands
Becky can't help feeling quesy, like someone's watching her every move, like something is gonna go wrong. She just can't point a finger on what the actual problem is.
Seth returns with a boyish smile on his face and she instantly feels safe, forgetting all the bad thoughts.
They eat in comfortable silence, taking in the environment. Seth looks around and spots a balloon stand. A few memories pop into his mind and he can't help but smile as an idea pops into his head. He smiles so bright Becky can't help but notice.
" Did you just spot an old girlfriend?" Becky asks jokingly.
" Yeah and she signalled me to come over" Seth replies with a smirk on his face, deciding to play along.
" Oh really?" Becky asks challengingly.
" Yeah really, and I'm going over right now" Seth says with a note of finality and with that he stands up and discreetly heads to the ballon stand, standing in front of a huge man to avoid being seen by Becky.
He orders a dozen balloons and doesn't walk straight to Becky, he instead approaches from behind her to avoid ruining the surprise.
He notices that she's quite pensive. He leans in close to her neck and senses her go tense. " Surprise" he whisphers and feels her immediately relax at the sound of his voice which warms his heart.
As she turns around, he feels something inside him crack as she smiles ever so brightly at him.
" I thought you went to meet your girlfriend?" She asks teasingly. " I did, I told that I found the one for me" he replies smoothly.
" You know you can't leave without me" Becky says laughing, not knowing how true her words are.
" I got these" Seth says, referring to the balloons, as Becky finally notices the balloons in his hands.
" Wanna organise a party?" Becky asks teasingly." No... I want to teach you something my mom taught me as a little boy" Seth says seriously, catching Becky's attention.
" Which is? " She asks as Seth finally takes his seat.
" It involves writing though, you sure you're up for it?" Seth asks mockingly.
" Well if you could handle it I sure can" Becky retorts.
" If you say so... It goes like this, pick any balloon of your choice" he tells her, placing the balloons in front of her, she picks up a yellow one and he picks a red one.
Seth hands her an marker and she raises a brow quizzically. " Now write whatever it is you want the most" Seth instructs, Seth tries unsuccessfully to glance over and see what Becky writes.
" Are you done?" Seth asks and Becky nods. " Write your name on the ballon" Seth says, handing her another marker with orangish ink. " Is this another requirement?" Becky asks and Seth shakes his head saying " so it'll be specified that it's from you."
"Just like Seth!" Becky thinks. "They're lots of people with this hair color" she points out but Seth just shrugs and says breezily " None are as special"
" I know you're wondering what this is,we're going to release this balloons into the air, this is like a petition to whoever you believe is up there" Seth says pointing to the sky. " The person will receive it in person and know it's you through the name, that way your wish gets granted easily" Seth says obviously reminiscing on childhood events.
" Wow, your mom must be really wise" Becky says, taking it all in.
" Don't worry you'll have a lot of time to chat with her when I take you to meet my folks" Seth says.
Becky ignores the comment though it warms her heart.
They both release their balloons, looking up to the sky till the balloons are no longer in sight.
"Hmm... Guess it doesn't work after all" Becky says after sometime.
" How? " Seth asks.
" Your still here" Becky points out as Seth raises a brow in confusion.
" I wished you'd dissapear but you're still here" Becky says bursting into laughter.
" Ha ha ha" Seth says, rolling his eyes.
Secretly Becky prays that her true wish would come to pass, unknown to her the exact opposite is coming her way.
The one thing she fears the most is unsuspectingly crawling into her bed, and sadly she might not see it coming talkless of avoiding it.
After all it's a known and accepted fact that Silent operators are the deadliest predators.
