Chapter 7: a trip to Diagon Ally

I fixed my hair and put on my outfit. I slipped on my ring and put on some black combat boots. I smiled and looked in the mirror, wow I look like a Slytherin.... I giggled slightly and walked downstairs. I walked over to my father and he smiled.
"I see that you went for a more Slytherin look dear...."
I nodded and kissed his cheek, I walked over to my mother and was about to walk out the door with her when I heard his voice again.
"Oh and Dawn?"
I popped my head around the corner.
"Yes father??"
"Who gave you that ring??"
I blushed and looked down at the ring.
"U-ummm... Draco gave it to me..."
He nodded and smiled.
"Goodbye dear..."
"Bye father."
I took a quick glance at the fireplace he was in front of and saw a crumbled up letter that had been thrown in the fire, I could just about see the word 'Potter' on the front. I closed the door behind me and walked with mother to the carriage.

Once we had got there I saw a huge crowd by the books store. I pushed my way inside and saw that Gilderoy Lockhart was there, I've read most of his books but they all seemed like rubbish. I looked up to see stairs and some more books upstairs.
"Dawn, I'll go and get your robes, just put on this old one."
I put on an old pair of robes, probably my moms and walked up the stairs. I looked through some books and saw that Ron, Hermione and Harry were down there, along with the Weasley family. I felt an arm snake around my waist and I looked behind me.
"Good to see you love."
I smiled and turned around to hug Draco. He kissed my cheek and smiled.
"Like your little gift??"
I smirked and held up my right hand.
"See for yourself~"
I smiled and giggled while Draco's grip around me tightened.
"So what did Potter say in his letter??"
"Well... I don't actually know, my father took it off me..."
"And did what with it?"
I hesitated at first then smiled.
"I think he threw it in the fire..."
Draco smirked and held me close. I blushed slightly and rested my hands on his chest. He moves both his hands so that they were around my waist and looked into my eyes.
"I love your outfit~"
I blushed and he chuckled, kissing my jaw softly.
"So adorable~ glad that you are mine now...."
I smiled shyly and heard some muttering from downstairs.
"It's Harry Potter!!"
I giggled slightly as Harry stared nervously at the camera and Draco just scoffed. They walked to the back and Draco walked down the stairs.
"Bet you loved that didn't you Potter? Famous Harry Potter! Can't even go into a book shop without making the front page!"
"Leave him alone!"
I looked down to see a little ginger-haired girl with her books clutched him her hands, must be Ron's little sister....
"Aww look Potter, got yourself a girlfriend!"
The redhead blushed as bright as her hair and Harry went a bit pink.
"Now now Draco play nice...."
I saw Mr. Malfoy walk into the store and put his snake staff on Draco's shoulder. Draco stood out of the way and let his father speak.
"Why now if it isn't Harry Potter..."
He pulled Harry closer and moved his hair out of his face with his staff to look at Harry's scar.
"I'm terribly sorry but your scar is very well known....."
He let go of Harry.
"As is the wizard that gave it too you."
"Voldemort killed my parents..... he's nothing but a cold-hearted killer..."
Mr. Malfoy raised an eyebrow.
"Your very brave to say his name...."
Then he spotted me at the top of the stairs.
"Ah! Dawn Lightwood, lovely to see you.."
I walked down the stairs and the Trio stared at me in shock.
"Why are you wearing Slytherin robes?!"
I looked down in shock to see that I was wearing Slytherin robes, they must have been Draco's or my father's.....
I smiled shyly at them and Mr. Weasley showed up.
"Alright family, shall we be going??"
"Arthur, so good to see you..."
"Lucius..."
While Mr. Malfoy and Mr. Weasley were talking I look at Harry who was trying to mouth something to me. Draco saw this and pulled me closer to him, wrapping an arm around my waist. I looked at Hermione who looked confused, I mouthed the words 'I'm sorry' and she smiled slightly, mouthing 'it's ok' back.
"Well I think we should take our leave, Draco. Dawn. Let's go find your mother...."
Mr. Malfoy walked out the store with Draco following him. I was about to follow when Harry stopped me,
"Why are you hanging out with Malfoy?!"
I could tell that he's angry and that the others were too.... I sighed and looked at them sadly.
"F-father's orders..... sorry."
I left the store and caught up with Draco.
"What took you so long??"
"Potter stopped me and-."
"He touched you?!"
Draco was about to run back into the store when I stopped him.
"Wait Draco! Please don't, you'll only cause more chaos..."
"But-."
"Please Draco..."
I looked up at him and rested my hands on his chest, I rested my head on his shoulder and he eventually gave in, wrapping his arms around my waist.
"Fine.... only for you..."
I smiled and kissed his nose.
"Come on, let's go find my mother."

We walked off and found my mother talking with Katie Fairchild's mother.
"Mother..."
She turned and smiled at me.
"Oh Dawn Sweetheart.... you must know Mrs. Fairchild?"
I nodded and shook her hand, I saw that Katie was behind her, nose in a book.
"Katie??"
She looked up at me and smiled, closing her book and placing it her bag. She held out her arms and gave me a warm hug.
"I haven't seen you in ages! Why are you wearing Slytherin robes??"
I blushed slightly and looked down at my robes.
"U-ummm... they're just some old ones..."
"And your obvious Slytherin outfit??"
I blushed even more and Katie smirked, Draco wrapped his arms around my waist and placed his head on my shoulder.
"Bit nervous love?~"
He purred in my ear and kissed my earlobe.
Katie laughed and smirked.
"You and Draco??"
I looked at her and sighed.
"Betrothed....."
She raised an eyebrow and smiled.
"You know you'll probably moved to Slytherin....."
I giggled and smiled.
"Another reason to hang out with you and Nicole."
She smiled and we started talking, Draco's arms still around my waist. Me and Katie talked about our classes that we were taking and we found out that we both had a passion about Magical Creatures.
"Dawn? Draco?"
I turned to look at my mother and Draco took his head off my shoulder, not letting go of me.
"Yes mother??"
"Well..... me and Lucius have been talking.... we think that we will keep this betrothal.... a secret..."
I looked up at her shocked.
"How come??"
"Well... you two are quite...... young and we think that you two should get to know each other before everyone else knows about this.."
I nodded and Draco let go of my waist. I looked over at Katie and pouted slightly.
"What is it now Dawn??"
I moved closer to Katie while Draco talked with his father.
"Kind of miss his arms around me I guess..."
"Aww are you falling in love with Malfoy now???"
I looked at her and laughed.
"I guess we'll have to wait and see...."
