Chapter 9: Gilderoy Lockhart's lesson

The first lesson of the day as a Slytherin was Defence Against the Dark Arts with Lockhart. I groaned as I got closer to the classroom.
"What's wrong love??"
I looked up at Draco who was walking with me.
"I don't know, I just feel like his lesson is going to be a waste of time, I've read most of his books and they were rubbish!"
"Yeah, honestly... his books are all about him."
Nicole walked beside us with Katie on her other side, Crabbe and Goyle were on the other side of Draco as we walked into the class.
I sat down with Draco as Katie and Nicole sat in front of us, while Crabbe and Goyle sat behind us.
Lockhart came down the stairs and lots of girls started clapping for him, admiring him as he showed off. I saw Draco look at me out the corner of my eye and I turned to face him.
"What you looking at, babe??"
He blushed slightly at the word 'babe' and chuckled slightly.
"We're not there yet love. Have to wait until next year for you to call me that...... also just wanted to see if you were falling for this pathetic excuse of a teacher."
He giggled slightly as he was obviously jealous and smiled.
"Of course not Draco..."
He smiled and went back to listening to Lockhart. While I listen to Lockhart talk about himself I could see Harry looking at me from across the room.

Harry's POV

I was looking at Dawn who was sitting with Malfoy. Why was she moved to Slytherin?? She helped me, Hermione and Ron find the Philosopher's Stone! She was a hero.... but I didn't see her at the end of the year, Malfoy either. Apparently their parents showed up to talk to Professor Snape about some arrangement?? They left afterwards in a hurry.... I didn't even get a chance to say goodbye.... I was staring at her for a while until Malfoy saw me. He glared at me and pulled Dawn closer to him, I clenched my teeth as Dawn's cheeks turned slightly red. She didn't move and Malfoy looked at me with a smirk.

Dawn's POV

I felt Draco pull me closer to him and my cheeks began to feel warm, I looked up at Draco out of the corner of my eye and saw that he was smirking at someone since I didn't move away. I looked over to see Harry not looking too pleased. I was about to ask Draco when Lockhart actually began his lesson.
"So today class, I am going to give you a challenge, something that is very dangerous, something that can give you nightmares!!"
He pulled off the cloth covering the cage and revealed Cornish Pixies.
"Cornish Pixies??"
I asked out laugh and everyone else started laughing.
"Laugh all you want but let's see how you can handle this!!"
He opened the cage and let all the Cornish Pixies fly free. They started attacking us by pulling on our hair or pulling on our uniforms.
One started pulling on my robes.
"Ugh get off!"
"I got it!! Hold still!"
Draco grabbed a pot and put the pixie inside.
"Thanks darling..."
"It's alright love."
I smiled and dodged more Pixies.
"Hey let go of me!!"
One of the Pixies were pulling on Hermione's hair.
"Hold still!!"
Nicole grabbed a book and slapped the Pixie away with it.
"Thanks...."
"Don't mention it Granger.."
Nicole smiled and Hermione smiled slightly.
"Never thought that those two would get along..."
I nodded and saw that a Pixie had Lockhart's wand. It shot a spell at Draco but I got there first.
"Protego!!"
The Pixie sneered and went to do another spell but I already had one in mind.
"Expelliarmus!!"
I disarmed the Pixie and grabbed Lockhart's wand. That was when Hermione pointed her wand in the air.
"Immobilus!!"
All the Pixies started moving in slow motion and I rolled my eyes.
"What kind of a teacher is he?? We get attacked by Cornish Pixies and he just hides in his office!!"
I slammed his wand down on the table and Hermione came over to me.
"Hey Dawn how did you learn the Disarming Charm??"
Most people looked at me and I smiled shyly.
"I-I... uhhh... I've actually always know that charm..... one of the Pixies had Lockhart's wand and was casting spells with it."
Hermione's eyes lit up and smiled.
"You have to come study with me and maybe your friends?? Your friend Nicole saved me from one of them Pixies and Katie seems so sweet..."
Hermione did looked concerned at what she was saying and I wouldn't blame her.
"I just have one question about them.... will they hurt me??"
I looked at her shock. No one was staring anymore and most of them had left the classroom since Lockhart won't come out of his office.
"Why would you ask that??"
"W-well... you know... Katie is a Fairchild and Nicole is a Ryder.... they are very well known.. and they are purebloods."
I giggled slightly and smiled.
"Don't worry Mione... Katie wouldn't hurt a fly and Nicole thinks that she would rather have you as her study buddy..... they won't even think about hurting you..."
Hermione smiled and hugged me, I hugged back and Nicole and Katie came up to us.
"Hey we were about to go to the library to study for our Potions exam... wanna come Hermione??"
She smiled and nodded, we were about to go off when I was stopped by Harry.
"I need to talk to you, now..."
I nodded and followed him out of the classroom with Ron, I looked back at Draco and nodded. He whispered something to Crabbe and Goyle and followed us quietly.
We went round a corner and Harry and Ron stopped me.
"Well??"
"What side are you on Dawn?? I mean you helped my sister with pug-faced Parkinson and now your hanging out with Malfoy?!"
I looked at them both and sighed.
"Listen you two, just because I'm in Slytherin now doesn't mean I don't want to be friends.... I defended Ginny because she didn't deserve to be treated like that, especially by Parkinson. Also Draco is in my house now, and he isn't that bad..."
"Not that bad?! His parents are evil!! He's just using you Dawn!"
"Ok that's enough!!"
I felt myself getting angry but I calmed myself down.
"Draco isn't using me! He is my friend and he is nice to me.... now if you don't mind I'm going to go study with my friends, Nicole, Katie and Hermione!!"
I stormed off, leaving them both standing there confused. I felt like I was on the verge of tears and I was pulled into an empty hallway.
"Love?"
I looked up to see that I was in Draco's arms.
"Draco...."
I looked down, not wanting to cry.
"Shhh... please don't cry love. I would never use you. Don't listen to Potter or Weasley."
He held me close as I laid my head on his shoulder, giving me a kiss on the forehead every so often. He pulled away so he could look at me.
"Don't listen to them... ok??"
I smiled and hugged him close, nodding. He kissed my cheek and was about to walk off when I pulled him back.
"You missed..."
He looked at me confused before I gave him a quick peck on the lips.
"Bye love~"
I smirked and winked at him. I walked to the library, my face totally red.
I did it.... I finally did it.....
